"The flight deck was bucking like little Cindy ridin' Major Johnson. Junior just eased her around, dropped gear and then the flaps and "eeek" a 3 pointer with the sweetest little tail hook you eber saw. Man, was I proud of the little sumbitch. Didn't he look mighty sweet in that flight suit? Karl sure knows how to pose 'em. "

Is that the one that starts out with Ellen Barkin writhing around naked in the mud at the edge of a river?

Interesting. Could you point me to the data on that? necro is a school teacher. So am I And mainstreaming isn't teaching to the lowest common denominator, though I assume there are teachers out there who will do that because of a) a lack of understanding or b) a lack of concern of how to teach across a variety of abilities and learning styles in a single classroom. If you have your shit together (as most teachers do), all students, from the high end kids to the special needs kids can be challenged by the same teacher in the same classroom. The WASL and NCLB are where the trend is going, and it isn't toward teaching to the lowest common denominator.

Not Cascades, but the crux mantle on the DNB on Middle Cathedral is the hardest 10b I've ever been on. Also, pitch 11 isn't 5.6 (steep, flared, polished runout chimney)by modern standards.

"If you love Trask, set him free.... if he comes back to you he is yours... if he doesn't he never was." that is quite amusing!

Annoyed by the reek of emotional vomit emanating from those who can't find a social life beyond cc.com and therefore mourn the loss of members of the "community"? You aren't alone.

I think you got that backward. EMOTIONAL STAGES OF RECOVERY Confusion and Agitation "I'll bet many of you think this place is better off without the likes of trask. I don't. Even though his comments may be inane, I think they tend to keep threads flowing, by drawing people's attention to them." "It's rather strange that I should be so fond of someone who is just about the polar opposite of myself in almost every way." Denial "So is it official; Trask is banned? If he is, for how long?" "He's banned. If you don't think he's going to be back, you've lived in this internet fantasy land for far too many hours of your life." Anger and Depression "Goddam, I feel like kicking my dog, and you know I'm not the dog-kicking type." Uneasy Acceptance "If Trask were here he'd tell you to fuck off Arlen." "Ode to Trask" "man i miss trask"

That wasn't my experience. It was a special order. REI charged me about $8.00 for the shipping.

I sent a more business-like, cathartic-rant version of my origianl post via e-mail to "whoever" at corporate REI and the next day spoke to the person who mounted my bindings. I gave her basically the same story. She offered to refund the $20.00 charge for the mount, which I declined citing the reason for my rant was more for the compounding overall nature of the negative purchase and service situation and the fact that she did spend extra time on my skis . I told her all I wanted in return was her assurance that in the future she would get a verbal okay before charging extra for extra work. She said she would and also mentioned that she would tell the manager and see if anything more could be done for me. I got a call and spoke to Chris (the manager?) at the Lynnwood store. He immediately offered to refund both the extra $20.00 mounting charge and the extra $20.00 for the price of the bindings. I again declined the 20 for the mount, citing that extra work had been done, but accepted the refund on the price difference. I made sure he understood that it was the Lynnwood store that mounted the bindings that required the extra work and that extra charges should be okayed by the customer verbally before being added to the price of service. While I will think twice before asking them to do any work on my stuff, they came through and did the right thing in the end. Props to Denise and Chris at REI Lynnwood for making a bad situation a bit better.

It was the Lynnwood store. I did make a big stink, including asking for the manager (who wasn't there.)I explained that I gave no authorization for the extra charge and therefore shouldn't have to pay. I got blank looks and suggestions that I call the tech person. Which I intend to do.

So I get a C note on a gift card from my parents from REI for Xmas and I decide to buy some new telemark bindings. They, of course, don't carry what I want so I special order them. I am charged $20.00 more (beyond the $12.00 shipping) for the bindings than they are listed on the Voile' website. Before agreeing to the $20.00 bendover, I asked if I could just get the cash out of the card. No deal. After two calls telling me my bindings are in when they weren't, my bindings finally arrive. I go ahead and have them mount them for the member price of $10.00. The person working on my bindings calls and leaves a message with some confusion on her part from the special instructions that the heel plates be mounted so I can lock down the wires behind them to ski just on 3 pins. She then calls back and leaves another message that the screws on my old setup are acting like they were epoxied in (they mounted those too.) but that they got them out and there would be an additional shop charge, which ends up being $20.00 more. I don't get the 2nd message before calling her about the first. She finally gets the instructions straight, but fails to mention the additional shop charge. So a pair of $130.00 bindings with a $10.00 mount ends up costing almost $200.00. On top of that, the drilling job they did to get the old bindings off, reamed out one of the holes, which makes it pretty useless. What a clusterfuck of an operation. Never again.
