  6. oh, and did i tell you it is STILL snowing??? (about damned time, we had a couple of weeks with NOTHING new and that was seriously suck ... unless you like bumps! ) sorry; i don't have a couch. (but i got a floor. c'mon down!)
  7. touching. thanks for sharing that with us.
  8. i don't think i've ever done it or would. sounds like it could be a mess, but if it works for you who's to judge? if it's a straight-up route i probably wouldn't need any slings anyway - gotta love the dmm's for that!
  9. we had another 13cm waiting for us this morning. 54cm of pow + new fat skis = today was definitely in my top 5 of the season!!!
  10. wtf? i did some looking around ... go here for the altitude info: http://www.ismmed.org/mmic_nav.htm

  13. hmm ... is someone erasing my posts? i could swear i already told y'all we had 41cm's of fresh pow this morning!!! and it snowed all day ... and it's STILL snowing.
  14. thanks, rumr - i was pretty much thinking the same thing!
  15. that was fun!!!
  16. "it"???
  17. just to clarify - with the clipfix you do set them for one ski, but you *can* change the length (by adjusting the placement of the shovel loop); it's just not a super-easy, quick-fix deal like with the g3's.
  18. so when you ask a guy what's on his mind and he says nothing ... he doesn't really mean nothing, does he?
  19. i have the clipfix for my tele set-up, but i just bought an AT setup for which i have ordered a pair of g3's. i'm anxious to see which i prefer, but i think i'll be happy with both. the g3's do seem to have the advantage, though, of being much easier to adjust length-wise. the clipfix can be tricky to get the tension just right so that the clip doesn't become unclipped while you're skinning around. not that it's anything more than a minor annoyance, but anyway.
  20. you disagree ... but then you say they exist. i said there is ow/chimneys - which means both ow *and* chimneys; not "offwidth chimneys" ... although you could argue that chimneys *are* offwidth if you really wanted to do so. whatever. some people can cruise them; some can't. i know people who went for it and had to make an unplanned bivy en route because it was harder than they thought it would be. for a one-day climb i'd think you'd want to be solid on the grades of the styles you'll encounter. if you can free most of that stuff you'll save a lot of time. here's a tr for ya: some guy's tr on the internet. sounds like good times!!!
  21. mount constance (olympic peninsula) was my first baker was my second
  22. not true! you can change the jug any time you want by changing how you use the tool. i usually hold mine the same way, but sometimes i will hold one further up on the shaft ... and sometimes i will pull up on one by grabbing the head. the ergo-type tools give you even more choices. you learn not to overgrip pretty quick and it's super easy to get a quick shake out when you don't have your tool attached to your wrist.
  23. i am so jealous!!!
  24. hey, i started it! and oh (to keep this on topic) i will be skiing telluride this weekend () ... but this time on my brand new fat skis.
