    dooky

wasn't there a boulderer by that name over at stone gardens?
  2. hmm ... oops!
  3. some people are f'ing weird. and not in a good way.
  4. i think all bills for mountain rescues should be sent to his house.
  5. i have the s410. i took a ton of huge pics and even some video over 3 days in the enchantments. (i have a 500mb card and had about 70mb left.) i got home and tried to upload them into my computer and the battery died. whew! i've heard that if you turn off the preview function you will save some battery life. hard to tell how long the proprietary ones are supposed to last really, but you might find some estimates online somewhere. if i was going for more than 3 days i'd definitely want a spare. probably depends more on how many pics you are taking than the actual length of time you're out, though. i could be wrong about this stuff, but thought i'd share my exp so far.
  6. knowing you were going to be close to closing, you could have called ahead and made sure someone would still be there. i've done that before for other places and they are usually happy to wait if they know you're coming.
  7. that guy's a cycling phenom for sure!
  8. gosh; you're mean. that's a lot of shit to write down! (really, though -- thanks for the heads up! )
  9. That's a no brainer!! Doesn't everyone do that?? i do. i'm not sure my man is "impressed" by it, but i'm sure he appreciates it.
  10. holy shit, marie! where do you find these asses???
  11. across the street from stone gardens.
  12. thanks; i had found that site earlier today but none of the pdf maps seem to work. i'll have to see if i can wrangle use of the car one evening ...
  13. i am travelling to bishop next week for work. i've driven through town on the way to/from j-tree and the valley, but i never stopped at the boulders. unfortunately i won't have much time to sightsee, but i'd like to at least see some of the boulders. does anybody know of a good online site for maps and/or beta? any must see boulder/area? any way to get to the areas without a car in case i'm not listed as a driver?

i think some cascade climbers singlets are in order.

    STP

i am definitely doing this next year! always nice to hear that people enjoy things they are new to!
  17. no, that would have helped! i always wonder why people don't use them all the time. i mean, it's not like they weigh that much or get in the way when you don't need them. is it just that people don't even buy them in the first place? i guess that's sort of a rhetorical line of questioning ...

    STP!

very cool, and glad you enjoyed it. a friend's son did it on his mtb last year and liked it a lot as well. after reading your tr, i'd like to do it some time, too.
  19. sweet. i guess beater cars are good for something.
  20. shit, dude. stop teasing us. some of us have to work.
  21. why don't you just return it? you can generally get these on ebay for about $140 ...
  22. fyi: if the permit is for wednesday, you can also pick up the permit AFTER 4:30pm on tuesday.
  23. i don't expect a guy to open my car door for me. (especially if i'm driving. ) i think it's really sweet when it's done, but i don't expect it. i do like it to be done for me when it's dark, though - more for safety than anything else. i open the door for my boyfriend sometimes; just depends. i generally let him close it himself. if you do it, just close the door after she's in. i don't think you need to wait until she buckles herself in and all. as for the chair thing, i think that's overkill. (but then again i wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth.) i mean, i really think it's unneccary unless you're really trying to impress someone - and in that case, be prepared to do it for your entire relationship. i actually always feel awkward when someone does my chair for me. i mean, what's the point? i like it when i get to choose where i sit, though.
  24. I wasn't ANGRY! I just... was, you know... DISAPPOINTED! There's a difference, sheesh! you KNOW i wasn't talking 'bout, YOU!
