The President, the First Lady and Dick Cheney are flying on Air Force One. George looks at Laura, chuckles and says, "You know, I could throw a $1,000.00 bill out the window right now and make somebody very happy." Laura shrugs her shoulders and says, "Well, I could throw ten $100.00 bills out the window and make 10 people very happy." Cheney says, "Of course then, I could throw one-hundred $10.00 bills out the window and make a hundred people very happy." The pilot rolls his eyes, looks at all of them and says to his co-pilot, "Hell, I could throw the three of them out the window and make 56 million people very happy."

Nothing like being able to pick up a crack whore on the way home, eh?

I have lived in Ballard, Greenlake, Greenwood and Capital Hill in the last 6 years. Depends on what you're looking for (dense urban versus more neighborhood), willing to pay in rent, where you're communting to and if you want a house or an apartment. Greenlake and Capitol Hill will generally tend to be more expensive than Ballard or Greenwood. Trade off is nightlife on the Hill and easy access to freeways and Greenlake. When I lived on Capitol Hill parking was, and still is a major pain if you don't have a spot. I just bought a house in Ballard just shy of Phinney Ridge and really dig what's happening in both places. Lots of cool pubs, restaurants and stores (Second Ascent!).Only drawback is that you are at least 15-20 minutes from the freeway. But then again, you're a 5 minute drive to both climbing gyms and a 10-15 minute commute downtown. They are all great neighborhoods, just depends on what you want.

Try also the North Cascades Basecamp in Mazama proper. I think dorm style accomodations are cheap and they also have private rooms that tend to be much cheaper than other options in M-town.

Only a little. We had an awesome 3 days at Smith. No one on the front side on Thursday and we had the whole West side to ourselves Friday. After watching Sharma take a huge whipper on the new 14a on Picnic Lunch wall (called the Big R I'm told) we went out to Adit and Koala rocks on Saturday and only saw one other party. Packed it in around 4 and drove over Hood in the first freshies of the season, narrowly avoiding a huge clusterfuck of stalled autos and semis.

That was us. Good times, good times. We had no shortage of people stopping to look at the two idiots out in the rain. FWIW it's fairly easy to get off the 1st pitch via established rap stations. We left a locker and a #6 nut to protect my downclimb from the belay (something about soaking wet slabs made me want some gear), but that was all.

....Or, what happened to me when I was following a semi once....I was probably behind it for about 30 minutes, it was kicking up all kinds of snow, then my car died. I pulled over to see if I could get it started again. It wouldn't start so I decided to check under the hood, not that I would be able to much with out any tools or a manual. When I opened the hood and looked in I was shocked to see every little space inside the compartment was packed with snow. Live and learn, I guess. Hey does anyone have any suggestions for places to stay in Canmore with a kitchenette and reasonably priced? Thanks for any help. The Akai hotel is cheap and has kitchenettes (replete with the ghosts of every meal cooked in them ), although a little ghetto. I think it was $60 or $70 CDN a night.

We got rained off of Icicle Butress on Saturday and I remember looking up towards the Enchantmnets thinking how f*&king miserable it must have been up there. Yikes. We were glad to have 5 minute walk back to the car and dry clothes in it.

What Alex said. My car froze solid in -40 temps last Janaury- including the foam in the cushions inside the car. while I had plenty of compamny, the mechanic in Lake Louise took pity of us and let us thaw out the car in their single bay second- all for $400. My car hasn't been the same since. I recall wearing damn near every stich of clothing while driving on th way back, including putting shake and warms inside shoes and belay jackets. Brr. Road infor for BC can be found here: http://www.th.gov.bc.ca/bchighways/roadreports/south.htm Alberta here: http://www.trans.gov.ab.ca/Roads/RoadConditions.asp

I have made the drive twice in the past two years and made it to Lake Loiuse it in as little as 9 hours in a Golf with TimL at the wheel and taken 16 in my Rodeo in heavy snowstorm that lasted all the way back to Seattle. Two nasty passes to cross over, but the road is usually well maintained. Bring chains, a shovel and some sand and you should be set. Others are right about the tailgaiting. One of the most vivid memories I have is watching a massive SUV rear-end a snowplow and go flying into the median. Idiot. Also- Canadian truckers must have the part of the brain that makes you afraid removed. Those guys haul ass in absolutely miserable condidtions. Let them pass.

Overstuffed queen-size futon mattress could be yours for absolutely nothing. Finanly got a real couch and need to get rid of it and figured I would see if anyone could use it before carting it off the the dump. Will deliver in the Seattle area. PM or email db_climbz at hotmail dot com.

Here's what some one else has to say. Hilarious. http://www.n3t.net/humor/Seriously.mpg

His name is Greg, although I have forgotten his last name. He was an instrucor of mine in 2000. He is very lucky to be alive and not a vegetable, doubly so his partner. They racked up over $150,000 in medical expenses as a result of that experience. Listen to him talk about it and you'll wear a helmet.

Thanks for the info! Both sound like fun.

Since work is interfering with a planned 4 day trip trip to Mt. Logan, I'm thinking about heading in to Tower Mountain and Golden Horn this weekend instead. I did a search, but wasn't able to find anything is this forum. Has anyone climbed them? Beta on approach, etc.? TIA.
