I've got the TOPO product and have been happy with it. I can't say how it stacks up against competing products. I've had a great experience with product support though. When I got a new computer, it wouldn't read my set of disks. Product support was very responsive and ended up swapping my old disks for the latest version at no cost.

We did it this weekend. We roped up for the ascent, but descended un-roped. We didn't see any open crevasses near the climbing route. I would have been comfortable doing it un-roped. This was my first time up there, and I was surprised at how steep the last bit to the summit was.

For some unknown reason that last one makes me think of Jgowens.

No, don't do it. I was born and raised in Spokane - refuse to be seduced by eastside! Besides, who will rope gun for me at Exit 38?

I use an Arcteryx Khamsin 50 - 3000 cubic inches - they don't make this particular pack anymore, but do make some similar. I find it has enough room for a three day technical climb with some careful packing and my sleeping pad and helmet on the outside. The waste-belt is comfy, but a real pain when worn over a harness. I had some gear loops added to the waist belt when I had it in to repair a tear in the bag. I haven't had a chance to try them out yet. I agree with CBS & Trask - the 4300 cu in is to much.

Here is a site that goes into this scam in detail. See this site for some hilarious correspondence with the scammers.

This hideous image has ruined the rest of my day.

Au contraire my friend. Rather it was she who could not stop looking at me! (mainly because it was amusing to see me flailing all over the rock like the sap that I am). However, it was my email address she left with.

My understanding is that the redistricting bill dies if not heard (or passed) by a certain date. Kind of a cool dodge.

The FS web site says three miles up the North Fork road. But of course it has said that for the last week or so. I'm planning a mid week trip as soon as the road opens.

I find on technical climbing I need all my focus and concentration on the climbing. If I’m pissed at someone, they and not the rock are on my mind and I climb like crap. (Or I should say crapper than usual.) I’m with Paco – a non technical slog works best to blow of steam.
