Route finding is a skill you learn just like moving quickly over mid fifth choss, jamming cracks, protecting traverses and figure 4's. It helps a lot to study photos and route descriptions as well as talk to folks who may have the current conditions.

Fairywetter: Since you seem to desire to lose some weight, (you don't come right out and say that but for the sake of wasting time, I'll address it) and also imply that reducing fat intake will somehow effect your body fat. When I'm attempting to lose fat, I generally cut the calorie intake, increase the activity level and comfortably drop 1-2lbs per week. You probably know this, but you cannot simply base your diet on fat content and expect to be healty or nutritious. I remember my sister thinking gummie bears would help her lose weight because they had "no fat". I firmly beleive your calorie intake vs activity level should be the primary focus of any diet for a healthy lifestyle with an emphasis on getting "enough" protien. I couldn't tell you what my daily fat intake is, but yesterday, I had some left over cheese pasta slathered in pesto and soaked up the left over olive oil with some garlic bread. All the while, my body fat is minus 4%. Seriously, I don't worry too much about my body fat as long as my clothes still fit.

Polartec® Power Shield™ fabrics represent the next generation of technical outerwear – body armor against the elements. This clothing concept goes beyond traditional 2 -layer systems, which feature fleece insulation and a waterproof/breathable shell, to a single layer that protects against abrasion and cold, wet weather. They feature a smooth, tightly woven nylon face for abrasion resistance equal or superior to the best shells, but without the stiffness and noise. They also have a polyester velour back that traps air and provides a high warmth-to-weight ratio. Patent-pending Air Control Technology® (ACT) enables the fabric to block 98 %of the wind. The remaining 2 %is allowed to circulate within the fabric, which greatly enhances moisture vapor transmission –2 times faster than other waterproof breathable shells – and improves breathability, reducing the risk of heat-stress buildup. All Polartec® Power Shield™ fabrics are constructed with durable water repellency to shed rain and snow. Spandex versions offer 4 -way stretch for unrestricted freedom of movement. Garments made from Polartec® Power Shield™ fabrics are designed to replace traditional fleece and PTFE shell systems for most outdoor clothing applications, reducing the weight and number of layers needed to insulate and protect. They are ideal for skiing, snowboarding, winter climbing and back-country trekking. They are used in jackets, pants, bibs, hats, and gloves. Technical Highlights Extremely abrasion-resistant face for long-lasting durability; fabric maintains its form and function regardless of abrasive contact Blocks 98 %of the wind to prevent wind chill, but allows enough air to circulate to keep you from overheating Very breathable; resists heat-stress buildup during action sports Provides warmth without the weight and bulk of traditional insulating fabrics Water-repellent surface sheds rain and snow Non-restrictive fit allows full range of motion Creates less noise than a traditional shell Machine washable Or kinda like a heavy duty Schoeller material.

Maybe we need to have a separate forum for climbing stuff or something.

Size Medium worn once, priced at half off the new price of $250.00 It's a powershield shell with a light fleece liner. I love the jacket, but, since I got my old jacket back, I need to get rid of this one. you can find all the details at Patagonia's web page and yes, it really is this color. send me an e-mail if interested, ryan@rpmcousa.com

Cold pizza. Stash it in the snow at night if it's hot out. When is someone going to make dehyrated beer?

Sounds like a cool trip! Deer with busted necks are pretty rare in the wilderness, from my experience. One of my nieghbors was tellin me about watching a black bear stalk, kill and eat an elk calf in Montana, they were kinda upset when I told them it was an awesome and rare thing to witness, they're old nature loving hippies. They even got out of their truck and tried to scare the bear away!

maybe I'll just take it and end the discussion.
