dude, what language is that, Korean?

I've seen that dam and run across similar ones near old mining claims but, it also could have been used for lumber operations or possibly providing irrigation on a homestead located nearby in the "old days". Or some pirates burried a treasure under it!

If you want light, cross off the Cumbre. I have the similarly constructed Matterhorn thermo and they are nearly as heavy as a plastic boot. Roomy toebox and very durable, not the lightest.

Too bad. I hope he recover's quick. I agree this isn't a good first alpine climb. Go do the Tooth or something without all the loose rock, steep dirt and choss. Lotsa mean boulders up there.

I have heard from 2 different former Navy personel that most modern day Aircraft Carriers can do over 50 knots, but it's "classified". Anyone know how many other countries have Aircraft Carriers? The answer may leave you in "shock and awe". Air Craft Carriers are so cool!

Spent an hour waiting for a paint contractor to show up on a job. But I did kill some of that time shopping for new waders for duck huntin season and came to the conclusion that I'd destroy those fangled breathables in a short amount of time and I'd better stick with neoprenes.

is that more or less than "ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS!!"

Considering the source, I'd say it was pretty civil Greg. "Price of a four year education at a college of your choice $100,000" "Cost of Osama's head on a pole - priceless!"

REI Lynnwood relocating to revamped Alderwood Mall Recreational Equipment Inc. said it has signed an agreement to move its Lynnwood store to the newly remodeled Alderwood Mall, a mile or two away. Lease terms with mall owner General Growth Properties Inc. are still being negotiated, the company said. The new 22,500-square-foot store, scheduled to open in about a year, will be on two levels and feature Kent-based REI's signature climbing wall. It will be located in approximately the place where the Alderwood Mall Nordstrom store was before it moved into a larger space during the mall's remodeling. A balcony on the new Nordstrom store will overlook the REI climbing pinnacle, the company said. "This new store will be a major upgrade and be more conveniently located," said Leslye Teuber, who has managed the Lynnwood store since it opened in 1990. "I hope our customers will be just as thrilled as I am."

I was still in bed when my wife woke me up to tell me a plane had hit one of the WTC towers. My first thought was "terrorists" and I hoped the building didn't come down. I immediatly dismissed that thought as being terrible and assumed it was an accident. Then the second plane hit. Now I knew it was the act of terrorists. I briefly watched the updates while I got our daughter ready for school but, like most, I tend to ignore "breaking news" until more objective reporting is available after the event. I flipped the TV back on just as I was leaving and my heart sank when I saw the image of the first tower coming down. This image is burned into my memory forever. My blood boiled instantly because I knew somewhere, someone was celebrating the death of the people still in the tower. I figured it would only be a matter of time before the second tower fell, said a prayer for the folks still in the building and left for work. I think Al Queida is getting off too easy. I'd be happy if Bush doubled the 87 billion budget to get that sub human piece of Satan's spawn Bin Ladden and his associates.

I believe it's part of the response to the need for a "rapid deployment" military. You can move a lot of shit fast in one of those big suckers.

...rapped the Beckey Route on the Special with pms and the fifi hook and a 30 meter line with a tiny stopper shoved behind the boulder above the tunnel back down and then another fifi hook special to the area where the red lichen traverse is. That is so cool

I have a golite reach jacket. I carry it when I'm out with a Schoeller top for extra rain protection. Paid like $25.00 for it on www.Sierratradingpost.com and I know Pro Mountain Sports in Seattle sells them too. Very similar material to the Marmot Precip, but much better cut and a little lighter.

How about a Schoeller Bivi?

Where is crazyjz, he's one of the better posters around here. Always says what's on his mind.

I don't like the kinder gentler Ray. I like the Ray who said he would kick my ass if I went to bed before midnight when we were planning to get up at 5am the next morning. Then we had to endure schmidt ice farts all the next day. Mean MOFO! -
The pub club thread has been in the Climber's board since way back when. It's usually pretty clear which thread it is so you can skip it if you don't want to read about it. I agreed with mattp's suggestions and still do about spraying in the TRs. A little bit is fine, and even adds to the entertainment value, but, I don't know if I've ever seen a Trip Report turn into a total spray fest unless the original poster made it apparant that they wanted it that way. I don't think things have changed much around here lately, but the spray does wear you down after a while.

Fortunatly, you youngsters around here are getting a nice history lesson today courtesy of me. Here's a classic troll incase any of you posers need an example. Unfortunatly my friend Ray was the victim of Lambone's cruel hoax and attempt at intimidation and Ray posted the email here. You see, Ray and some other really nice (and big) guys removed some recently placed bolts at Castle Rock and Lambone, being a bolt clipper, decided to get his cowardly revenge by setting up a false email and harassing those pleasant (and responsible) folks. Fortunatly, Ray returned the favor by posting nice things about Lambone several weeks later. I'll dig up one of those if I can find one. here's one here's another -
I climbed that route up to where you can either undercling the flake and go right or continue up the thin corner to the anchor directly. I only had one piece big enough for protecting the underclingy area and couldn't decide if I wanted to protect the second or myself so I backed down. But, I wondered if it goes direct or around that flake. It looks fairly stiff for 5.8 either way.
