  6. I heard from some mad Brit that if you place 6 #0 RPs on a free climb and whip, the first 5 will rip, and the ripping will absorb some of the energy in the fall, and by the time you hit the 6th one it will hold you....
  7. get a goat and you won't need a bottle.
  8. Depends on the flake Thin flake = all force on small area of nut = more likely to break flake Thick flake = cam exerts more outward and less downward force = more likely to expand flake You could always just run it out In general, this question is more on the order of: if you are screwed, how bad are you screwed? We can ask more like that: If you are climbing Pipeline, and all you have are RP's, what should you do? If you are iceclimbing and drop both tools, 50' above your last screw, and 90' above the ground, with 30' to go to a tree, can you use your fingernails? If you are accidentaly retrobolting DDD and get caught by Mitch Merriman, should you pray or run? If you accidentally log on as Trask and find a new PM from minx in your inbox, should you a) open it or b) open it?

  12. seeing as enough tape to support a climber would cost "thousands and thousands of pounds" and "The main problem so far is it losing its stick rapidly" I doubt we're all gonna be using it anytime soon.

  20. North Ridge is 5.5!!! With 5.9++ dirt excavation and moss trundling skill required
  21. Eiger Mordwand Dru Cuoloir Walker Spur Bellavista Peutery Integral That should be a fun week How come French, German, Austrian but not Swiss. Are you allergic to chocolate and cuckoo clocks?
  22. CBS maybe you should climb something on the shaded north side of the Rock like the upper pitches of Saints, or Angel, or North Ridge, before ya say there is not a moss problem. talk about magic carpets! I even challenge your description of Ponderosas up there. More likely dry-phase Douglas Firs.
  23. it was Beckey and Schoening. it was a very GOOD move as the moss and dirt would have been most unwelcome. and the reason the trees will never grow back on LL is because of the hordes of climbers up there trampling any seedlings that do sprout.
