  1. trask is now trying out Anna's strategy on Anna.
  2. Producing the gecko tape involves processes similar to those used in making computer chips. It is long and expensive. "There are some problems we have to solve before this could be used commercially; the main one is that it doesn't stay sticky for long enough. oops! "So we have to solve this, and that's why we're publishing the research now in Nature Materials. We hope some other people might be able to help us." Professor Geim has high hopes for the gecko tape and is convinced its remarkable properties will eventually find many applications. "We had this idea of making some tape the size of a hand and suspending someone outside the laboratory window. "We decided not to do it because it would have taken a long time and cost thousands and thousands of pounds, and wouldn't have proved anything scientifically. But we had lots of volunteers."

  7. Trees grow back Rocks dont
  8. "We have also considered producing a large amount of gecko tape, sufficient amounts to enable a student to hang out of a window of a tall building," Professor Geim said. "However, it would cost too much money, and would not benefit us scientifically, so we have limited our demonstration to the Spiderman toy." Pretty expensive aid. BD Spider Gloves: $30, 000 each?
  9. Tony Yaniro, master hold shaper behind such fantastic outdoor chip & glue fests such as Hypersoul and blah blah blah... and bolter of crack climbs like Le Boogieman Will now teach technique for sticking tinfoil in pockets of route, then rushing home to Randy's garage and making exact replicas to practice crux See Climbing Mag ish 106, June 1991 for more info

  19. crampons work good in plywood though and for real dry tooling practice you should be able to hook your heel spur on holds or tools, its about torso and leg strength, not just arms. those real rock holds dont get damaged like resin ones do, by metal tools and points. also most gyms have a box of old broken ones somewhere they want to get rid of... no need for dry tooling holds to have tendon friendly shapes!
  20. ... when the summit register is covered with snow in winter, parties will find it hard to sign in..... I don't say you were NOT the first since last fall, only that the summit register is not a reliable way to determine this.
  21. duh, that was my point too, what exactly are we arguing about? it breathes exactly the right amount for winter ice climbing, cragging and spring alpine climbing
  22. you mean like when you are leading Air Guitar at Vantage huh Can't believe you went there Drude...Damn that's taking a man's woman....and his beer i figured it would be a good way to point out even falling at he crag is not "safe" and should be avoided whenever possible. a reference to the Kropp case is merely a cited instance of where a crag fall was demonstrably not safe. lots of others in ANAM. dunno what's so low about it.
  23. and it is even more low, to bring back a dead thread, make a meaningless post "I heard that blah blah" and then see who gets all jumpy and defensive cause your fake rumor has struck home to them as true, MINX????
