I heard there is a log you can cross on less than 200m upstream of the bridge that was removed (which is the one right off the Hurley), then its about a 1 -1.5 hour walk up the road to the moraine.
it's more efficient to drive a hybrid in a regular lane than in the HOV lane because there is more stop and go braking in the more crowded lane and speeds are lower so you are driving more on the battery and less on the gas....
When crossing any river
1) look for the riffles not the pools as places to cross
2) when crossing aim diagonally downstream to the opposite bank if the water is low. if the water is really high face upstream and move sideways using the tripod as described above or using a pre-strung handline.
3) if its really high swim it first before you shuttle the packs. use your thermasrest, foamy etc for extra flotation
It's gonna be approximately 6 months from now according to my highly scientific calculations. Maybe a year if my new responsibilities reduce my posting time.
They were probably placed not as a regular anchor but as a bail anchor by some party backing off in the late 1970s which is why they are in such an odd spot and so poorly spaced.
given that it has a normal, not reverse clearance pick it seems this is actually a general mountaineering axe and BD is jumping on the "bent shafts for general mountaineering" trend started by DMM 3 years ago and followed by Grivel.
So it wouldnt be their version of the Aztar but of the Air Tech Evo or whatever the hell Grivel calls theirs.
