  1. Powershield is the weight of 100 wt. fleece and as warm as 300wt. fleece, but lighter . Powershield jacket like Arcteryx Gamma SV is as warm as a scholler jacket with a 200wt fleece underneath (like wearing Arcteryx Gamma LT pullover with a Delta jacket or Regulator fleece underneath) Powershield has better water repellency than scholler. powershield is a cold/winter fabric. scholler is a summer fabric on its own, or a winter fabric layered over fleece.
  2. Instead of the fleece + goretex combination for alpine pants I recommend Powershield fabric, like in the ArcTeryx Gamma SV bibs. I will never wear goretex for ice climbing again, unless its a slushy shower like Shannon Falls in March.
  3. It died out along with the ground up ethic, white painters pants and external frame packs, except for amongst traditionalists like us.

    Pope's Dream

you got std's from being raped by a gay coyote?? or was it dick cilley?? that's an objective hazard all the helmets in the world ain't gonna fix...
  5. Abba will have to wait until I go through my Boney M vinyl collection a few more times. As for pope he hasn't piped up much today, maybe he joined the moonies like that african bishop and is consummating it with a new bride
  6. Actually I am all for flying in, it makes it all the more embarrasing for losers and nancy boys (like haireball) to realize that they flew in and are getting passed by some guys who walked in. Also on Slesse do you fly your bike in to the road end in Slesse creek or get flown out too?? Also, matt clambone, I promise never to make fun of your silly name again. Don't change it unless you want to be part of the stupid cascadeclimber "trad"ition of having 5 different usernames and starting flame wars between them... those lambs you bone, is that 'bone in' or 'bone out?' Next time you tell me to Fuck Off, don't bother with the $#&@#! part either just spell it out like a man.
  7. Hey NolanR have you ever been having a good time and thought "This would be even more fun if..."? Don't knock it till you've tried it. You owe it to yourself to partake at least once so you know what it is you're spraying about. Remember, "the first one's free!"

I like the one sock look. Sort of like Michelle Jackson and his one glitter glove.
  11. Hey Pope. I'm willing to confess I got laid, drank wine, and climbed a mountain this weekend.
  12. Oh dear another bad reply from lamebone. you absolutely do NOT need a helicopter to do slesse ne buttress in a day. maybe ten years ago, when the road was trash, it woiuld have helped. fact is it takes 3 hours for turtles to go from road to base of route. about another9-10 hrs to climb rthe route, and 4 to descend, plus return time depending on if you have 2 cars or a bike. so it's a long day (17 hours) but using a helicopter to shave 4 hours off your day does not seem to me like a smart way to spend $700.....
  13. I wish, I was on paid training learning the best type of gun to shoot loggers with and other important facts!! In fact it is after 4:20 today and I just cam in the office to check my messages, going home now, bye! It's nice to be missed though. I don't have any sino in me either Erik, just 1/16th local homeboy, 1/16th Carribean rasta and 14/16th West European colonial. The sino will appear in the family tree next generation depending on which girlfriend I breed with
  14. Actually, Viktor should use all sorts of little icons in his guidebook like the Rockfax guides or Squamish Select does. So Outer Space could have "Outer Space 5.9" then 5 stars, no skulls, two ticks (spring), one helmet, one headlamp, one goat, and five slow-climber symbols. Canary would read "Canary 5.8" then 3 stars, no skulls, one tick, no headlamps, no goats, four wasps, two slow climbers and three ghosts (for spooky moves). etc [This message has been edited by Dru (edited 05-29-2001).]

    Rock Fest 2001

Dimensions? Like 44D? 48-28-36? Or "Forget about the five feet, tell me about the eleven inches?"
  17. Hey Cpt. Caveman, you forgot the reason: "You will acquire more ticks than just the tick in your guidebook!"
  18. What about the nose leeches and other parasites that were carried up the mountain by the both of them?? I heard they fried and ate one of Hillary's nose leeches as fuel for the summit bid. Days before Gu Shot eh? (And we all know what girls and guys are 'training' for by swallowing that) And, what if Mallory and Irvine were first and you are drinking a toast to the Second Ascencionists???????????? OOOOH MUST FIND CAMERA AND TAKE MORE PICTURES OF DEAD BODIES YEAH CLIMBER DEATH PORN!!! Better get some of that West Pole Brand gore tex it lasts longer.

AAAAh.... I probably wouldn't repeat that story to Lynn next time I meet her cause I'm not into sloppy seconds. Leave that stuff for erik and caveboy
  20. Decent topo map (b&w) at 1:20 000 can be ordered from the BC government -the relevant sheets are 092G085 and 092G086. Lots of good info, photos, recent condition reports etc. on the route in question on www.bivouac.com. The standard guidebook reference is Fairley's guide, also check the new SW BC Alpine Select from Kevin McLane (shipping to stores this week).

heard an interesting story tangentially related to this topic...probably not true but.... a friend of mine related that some friend of his was down in Yosemite and happened to meet Lynn Hill. He worked up the nerve to stutter out "I've always wanted to meet you - I used to dream about getting together with you" to which Lynn replied (after a quick head->toe look) "Well, what are you waiting for". It lasted a few days...that Lynn, she really uses up her men!

If you don't think crowds add to the quality of a climb (and I don't) then it's probably best to seek outclimbs that aren't crowded. For myself, doing the standard slog up Mt. Budweiser or what have you is not a CLASSIC ROUTE and it will never be SELECTED or RECOMMENDED in or by me, just because i don't find crowds fun. But some people only know how to do what's in the guidebook. So - it's good - I know what not to go for. But when I'm in an area that's not my home area, like Jtree, I don't have local knowledge to rely upon,so I have to go by the guidebooks. That's when I run into crowds. And thats when speed tactics, ability to pass, or just turning and leaving work. Still haven't done Sail Away but there are no-star routes out there just as good and minus the crowds. Crowded routes are good for scooping booty though. solo Diedre on a Sunday evening with a nut tool and it will pay for itself after a while.

  24. He (?) wanted to know about the secret button that you can press that sets off a fake eruption and scares away all the other parties. But if we told him about that it wouldn't be a secret anymore... oops! Send me $500 in used bills for the location of the secret eruption faker button. For $25 more I will throw in the location of the button for the 'ejector ledge' on outer space that catapults slow parties ahead of you off the route.

blakey, it's not just gonna be me that survives a mass extinction, it's gonna be me and a bunch of beautiful actresses... and, unfortunately, Tom Jones too, it's gonna be just like the end of Mars Attacks. When we're rebuilding society, there's gonna be a lot more important things to do than shave palms, boy, we're going to need that palm hair to avoid frostbitten hands!
