MRNP Carbon River/Mowich Lake Access Closed
KaskadskyjKozak replied to Fairweather's topic in Access Issues
I have three left: Mineral, Tyee, and Redstone. I plan to get those in the fall via some variation of the northern wonderland trail loop. -
I thought you already climbed Challenger? Chimney Rock scares me; no desire. Whitney is a state high-point I haven't done yet. I don't do well with paperwork and government. Headed to AZ, NM in May and might collect those.

I still have seven Irish Cabin Peaks missing from my sash. And my time spent in the PRWA is less and less. Now that the road is closed, I might not make the list! Still need Pitcher, Redstone, Squaw, Tyee, Mineral, Gove, and Castle. - Last week

I'm going to be recovering from shoulder surgery all spring. Hopefully if I have my strength back I'll be able to get the following: Challenger Chimney Rock Whitney, E Face (with my son!) And there would be a bunch of other climbs and scrambles too.... opportunistically grabbed

I snuck in and bagged Pitcher Mountain the day before they closed the bridge. What luck, eh? -
There is plenty being said these days I don’t like that I don’t respond to. You made a comment about me in a conversation with me. What planet do you live on where somone wouldn’t respond to that? 😂😂😂

Take a deep breath, Oly. You don't have to respond every single time someone says something you don't like.

You can think whatever you want champ! Doesn’t make your thoughts accurate, but then again it seems from this thread accuracy is not something you worry about .

"Methinks." Another sad tardanachronism echoing here in the dank.

Stairmaster elevation estimates?
Mrnobody replied to OlympicMtnBoy's topic in Fitness and Nutrition Forum
Super late to the party, but if you are still interested, there's a nice video that explains a very similar thing but on an inclined treadmill. The concept is the same except that you are climbing stairs instead of a flat surface. Think that staying still doesn't cost energy, and that makes you go down. Therefore staying "still" (as opposed to going down with the stairs) cannot also cost no energy, and must cost something. Turns out that something is exactly the energy required for an equivalent ascent. -
Hadn't heard of it but just looked it up. Looks great! Would love to see a TR of good scrambles/hikes/camp spots you do.

Haha, thanks. There are summer programs at a few of the major universities in Norway, and then there are a few folkehøgskoler (sort of adult education programs, usually taken following "high school" level) which offer language programs if one has a longer period. A lot of the major universities have scholarships, and then past that there's scholarships through different Norwegian culture institutions in the US that have some scholarships. The subset of people in the US learning Norwegian is quite small, so a lot of these scholarships don't seem to be too difficult to get as long as one can demonstrate a fairly dedicated effort towards learning the language. Haha, I wish. I will definitely be trying to take advantage of the beautiful nature as much as possible while there.

So you're sending the Troll Wall on a weekend right?
-
Holy crap dude, congrats! That is cool I want to learn Norwegian in Norway! Where do I apply? im seriously curious, though I’m past doing anything like that. What a cool opportunity for you though!
-
I got a scholarship so I'm actually going to be headed to Norway for a few weeks to take a course in Norwegian. Past that, I'll be back home working and hoping to get in a lot of harder (for me) dry tooling in this summer.
