jon Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 (edited) Hi Everyone, We have finally done the internal first round voting and are ready to rock here and have everyone vote. There were so many incredible photos and it was incredibly hard for us to come up with the final voting. Again thanks to our sponsors American Alpine Institute as the premier sponsor for this, and Pro Mountain Sports, Seattle Bouldering Project, and Backcountry Gear for their generous support. Again the categories and prizes are... Alpine -- $330 AAI Gift Cert* Cragging -- $120 PMS and $120 Backcountry Gear Gift Cert Scenic -- $330 AAI Gift Cert* Skiing/Boarding -- $330 AAI Gift Cert* Bouldering -- 6 month pass to Seattle Bouldering Project valued at $432 Ice -- $250 PMS Gift Cert Humor -- $120 PMS Gift Cert For the scenic category there were so many excellent photos we decided to allow more nominations then normal. In the event of a tie for a category, we will have a quick revote for that category with the photos that tied for 3 days to determine the winner. Results will be posted on 9pm August 20. jon Posted August 11, 2011 Author Posted August 11, 2011 I want to comment on a few things here quickly. The images are posted randomly, there was no order to how I did this. So if anyone thinks we unfairly ordered them please understand there is no order, it was determined by an excel spreadsheet. We realize the voting system is not ideal, having to submit the form for each category. We would rather have an unideal contest then none at all. We hope you agree. We will try and have a better system in place next year when we do this that will highlight the photos better and offer a better voting system for the contestants and the people voting. Quote
kevino Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Thanks again Jon(and everyone else behind the scenes) for doing this. Very cool to see such an assortment of great photos. With that being said, I am officially boycotting ski/snowboard section since my photo wasn't nominated but a picture of a whiteout was. Quote
Buckaroo Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 (edited) Is it really fair to have this photo entered in 3 different categories? I believe it was originally entered in "cragging" only, even though it doesn't really belong in that category. Nice contest everyone, and thanks to the sponsors. It's going to be hard to choose the winners. Edited August 12, 2011 by Buckaroo Quote

Dane Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Fun that this contest made me go look for the original photos instead of scanning a bad photo that was 25 years old. REALLY fun for me to actually find them! Great pictures by everyone..thanks for posting them and the sponosr support! Quote

Alpine Cragging Scenic Devin27 Ski - JasonG Bouldering Ice - Jon Frieh Humor - Le Piston and Rad Thanks to everyone who took the time to post their amazing photos. archenemy Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 That Church of Later Day Saints photo should at least get an honorable mention - that was great! Quote
