Alex Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 This just had me laughing out loud! http://seattle.craigslist.org/est/spo/1535443261.html Quote
JBo6 Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Fucking lame. Sorry for the sucker that ends up with those. Quote
Julian Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 The posting is gone already, what was it? Quote
Water Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 some older, but not anything antique, ice tools for $300, and a lot of whining about wanting to get exactly $300, from someone local only. I don't ice climb so I am unsure, but the OP or JBo6 would probably elucidate further that asking $300 for them would be like asking $3000 for a 95 dodge neon today. Quote
Crillz Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 $3000 for a 95 dodge neon Damn! You mean I got ripped off? Quote
Water Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 nah, nah, you got a really good deal.. you must have got those tools for $300 too! great deals abound! =) Quote
spiderman Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I see a lot of things priced in the Yard Sale that make me laugh too. Sometimes I can barely refrain from making a snide comment on their post. IMHO used gear, if it's not ancient like those tools, should get about 30% of retail value. I get a kick out of seeing people selling their used shit for 70-80%. If it hasn't ever been used and just sat in a closet, therefore is in brand new condition, 50% seems about right to me. Quote
Pete_H Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 30% Really? So a pair of this or last year's top of the line ski boots or ice tools in excellent condition used a couple times should be sold for 30% of retail? What ever. Quote
kevino Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Yeah its all about demand. Something tells me you can sell really popular and current generation of items such as ice tools, screws, crampons, cams, etc for a lot more than 30-50% of retail. This is evident....everywhere. Quote
spiderman Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Pete. For items in excellent or unused condition, 50-60% seems right to me. But then again, it's all about demand and a set of new gen cobras will fetch 85-90% without blinking an eye. When I say 30%, I am talking about some of the older(3-6 years) used stuff we're seeing. I probably should have been a little clearer on what types of goods, and what type of condition I was referring to. But you're right, lots of goods are in high demand and get a lot more than my percentage estimates. I'm not going to go into any more detail than this, but I think we're on the same page and you get my drift. Quote

zeroforhire Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 This is found as a sticky on TGR, and while it applies to ski stuff, I think we could generally apply it to climbing stuff. "50% of current selling price (not MSRP) -10% per year old -10% per times drilled, per core shot, per delam...etc -10% per marker binding attatched +10-30% for Rare/High-demand item " Quote
medicsandy Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 so........what color's the dodge neon? Quote
Water Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 green of course. like the POS hand-me-down I got in exchange for my 89' pontiac bonneville (worst trade). I think I put $3k into keeping that piece of crap running during college. worst car ever. Quote
