denalidave Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Usually, I agree with tvash, cause he is always right, and sometimes I am. It's just the persistence of his rightness that rubs like salt in the wound. Quote
denalidave Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 OK, DD, I get it. Enjoy your pouting session. Right again, give the man another star. Pouting here at the house on one of the sure to be last good climbing days of the year. Sprayin and hanging with the kids whilst this head cold kicks my ass. Much rather be out a few pitches up but I guess I'll settle for some button pushing here. Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 You seem to be having a bad day, so I'm gonna respect that and disengage. Â Merry Christmas. Â Â Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 I'm at home with a cold, too, BTW. Quote
denalidave Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 All just good spray. Â Merry Christmas, too. Â Just thought I'd fling it back your way today. Not that I would expect anything to change. Just got my red hot poker out for a few minutes. Good thing you are immune to red hot pokers, right? Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Depends on who is doing the poking. Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Why would you be concerned about my butt hairs, Bug? Are you lacking other things to focus on? Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Would you...like to inspect my butt hairs, Bug? Quote
Mtguide Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 (edited) Reagan's legacy is more than just the War on Drugs: the war about drugs  Just like JFK's legacy is more than just Teddy....   To be fair,I believe this photo was taken during the Johnson administration. But yes, it's part of JFK's legacy nonetheless. The children in the photo had just been napalmed, the girl had her clothes blown off, and what we don't see is the globs of still burning napalm burning through to her rib cage in her back. The girl survived and lives in the US today. Edited December 23, 2009 by Mtguide Quote
Kimmo Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 to be fair, posting that photo for the purposes it was posted is a rather sad testament to its poster. Quote
Peter_Puget Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 (edited) Ah Kimmo check out Best & Brightest Unfortunately I have thought of it many times in relation to Obama.  Looks liek others have too.....  Obama's Vietnam? Friday's airstrikes are evidence Obama will take the hard line he promised in Pakistan and Afghanistan. But he should remember what happened to another president who inherited a war.  Juan Cole linky  Edited December 23, 2009 by Peter_Puget Quote
Pete_H Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Funny how you didn't voice your strong anti-war sentiment during the previous administration. Quote
Kimmo Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 you seemingly have had a history indicative of a reluctance to engage in the tasteless theatrics that are evoked by the "anonymous" nature of this forum, so to see the photo above came as a bit of a surprise, that's all. Â as does your "defense" in the post above. Quote
prole Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Pee-Pee's analysis doesn't extend beyond the D or the R after someone's name. Quote
Mtguide Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Actually the links in PP's last post are well worth checking especially the excellent article on Salon.com by Juan Cole. Both articles emphasize the utter, self-defeating futility of violence as ever providing a solution, or resolution, to anything. Quote
Pete_H Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Maybe, but some people indeed deserve to be curb-stomped. Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 (edited) If PP has indeed changed his mind about the neo-conservative, unilateral agenda of might makes right so expensively executed by the previous administration, I suppose one more convert, however too little too late, is cause for a one handed golf clap. Even the village idiot eventually figures out that eating shit causes bad breath. Â I haven't seen a single post from him to indicate such. In fact, I haven't seen a single post from him which espouses much of a tangible position on anything, save baseball. He doesn't seem to really have a clear opinion, not one that he's been willing to share here, about what to actually do about anything. Â Nearly every other conservative on this site seems to at least get to the point every now and then, even if that point is no more than a wish to have their sack licked. Â The word 'gelatinous' comes to mind. Edited December 24, 2009 by tvashtarkatena Quote
murraysovereign Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 ... The girl survived and lives in the US today. Â Ahem..., she's Canadian, actually, and is one of those upstanding citizens any country would be proud of, in spite of the fact that she lives in Ontario. Quote
j_b Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Reagan's legacy is more than just the War on Drugs: the war about drugs  Just like JFK's legacy is more than just Teddy....  Sure, both wings of the corporate war party are compromised: Vietnam/laos-afghanistan-Nicaragua-honduras .... but how many made the War on Drugs axiomatic? j_b Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 to be fair, posting that photo for the purposes it was posted is a rather sad testament to its poster. Â Indeed, there is nothing in PP's prose over the last 7 years indicating he learned anything from the Vietnam fiasco. Quote

j_b Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Completely irrelevant. Nobody here has been arguing for anything marxist despite the constant red-baiting; however, plenty of knuckle-draggers have argued for perpetual war as if they hadn't learned anything from Vietnam. Quote
