thats a slightly bizarre situation. they are basically trying to hold back nature. they would be better off trying to free willy it seems.

I got yer free willy right here....

The moral of the story: remember to wrap yer willy.

Yeah, don't be silly, wrap your willy.

The cost of blanket and the time to install it is probably less than the cost of rebuilding the ramp each winter. So while the warming is causing grief the solution is economical. Of course there may not be any snow on the runs but that is another problem.

Good thing these folks weren't around when the Colorado was eroding the Grand Canyon. They'd have had the whole southwest US tarped in Tyvek, or it's prehistoric equivilant.

Huh?? The Colorado is a river not a glacier????

So fight the changes occuring to the glacier as a result of climate warming by spending money, time and energy to try to "protect" tiny areas so they can continue to be used for energy intensive activities on their slopes? This sounds about as backwards as a Bush administration forest management plan.

Well, that's no problem. We've had snow making technology around forever. Just build a coal fired power plant to ruin all the gear for that and you're in business!
