Cpt.Caveman Posted September 30, 2002 Posted September 30, 2002 I was thinking about hiking all the way through the enchantments and tagging a few summits to include Prusik Peak, and perhaps McClellan and Witches Tower this weekend. IF this sounds interesting and the weather looks like it is good let me know. Otherwise I might just solo hike through and climb the Witches Tower alone. Quote
AA Posted September 30, 2002 Posted September 30, 2002 Mr. N and I are planning on getting out there for Prussik if the weather is good. Maybe we can meet up... (sat am) Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted September 30, 2002 Author Posted September 30, 2002 I would like to be hiking in by 8 am. This is more or less an idea and if the weather craps out then I might not go. If it looks ok then we can try to link up. I'll make a decision most likely later this week. Please send PM with email or number. Quote
scot'teryx Posted September 30, 2002 Posted September 30, 2002 I'll be out there as well with Mr Verdina if the weather is okay. Had a friend up there this weekend and said they only got up the first fifth class pitch as the wind was blowing at about 40mph, and that it was snowing. We'll be camping at Colchuck Lake on Saturday, probably heading up to do the Witches Tower on Saturday afternoon, then doing Prusik early on Sunday morning. Anyone up for climbing in Leavenworth on Fridat afternoon? Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted September 30, 2002 Author Posted September 30, 2002 I'm definitely not going in via aasgard pass. I got a little something to pick up at Nada Lake area. See ya round if we both go. Quote
Dru Posted September 30, 2002 Posted September 30, 2002 Weekend after this I'm there. This weekend have to take my dad on a hike for his 65th. Quote
G-spotter Posted September 30, 2002 Posted September 30, 2002 Are there any via ferrata in the Enchantments? I think it would be good place to maybe build a few so that more hikers can experience these beautiful summits. Quote

Never go there, it is extremely dangerous; the wildlife should not be trifled with or taken lightly. Greg W Quote
Dru Posted September 30, 2002 Posted September 30, 2002 So leashes are aid but via ferrata aren't? Quote
Greg_W Posted September 30, 2002 Posted September 30, 2002 There are plenty of via ferrata routes up there, but they're all free solo routes. Quote

There's this one that takes a rather circuitous route up the south side of Little Annapurna; It's the way those in the know circumvent The Tool. Quote

Cpt.Caveman Posted October 1, 2002 Author Posted October 1, 2002 You are getting too defensive. How can you see into the future and know you will not do the same Quote
Dru Posted October 1, 2002 Posted October 1, 2002 Well if you add my failure on Triple Couloirs then I am 3 for 3 on failed Enchantments trips. And if you take your hidden stash away from Nada lake I might just go 4 for 4. Quote

Greg_W Posted October 1, 2002 Posted October 1, 2002 Don't know if that was pertinent, but it was funny Mr. Natural. Quote
Mr._Natural Posted October 1, 2002 Posted October 1, 2002 I think it might have something to do with taste but that was merely coincidental. Quote
