A fairly extensive remodeling project was just completed on my house and the general contractor did such a good job that I want to get his name out to as many people as possible. His name is Myron and his company is called M.O. Construction.

His bid came in about mid-range in the various prices that came out of the bidding process. His time projection was spot on, which wasn't a surprise considering that he began work early October and worked steadily through the winter to finish up within the timeframe he projected. He and his apprentice were here promptly at 8:00 am every work day, with the exception of the really heavy snow days when they couldn't get from Ballard to Brier, and including multiple days when the temperature was in the 18-22 degree F range and days when it was raining steadily.

Myron spoke with me about all phases of the project along the way on a daily basis. At the end, there was no punch list because he knew about, and took care of everything before declaring the work completed.

He did a lot of little things gratis, including fixing a rafter tip that had been snapped by roofers 10 years ago who stood on it and then refused to fix it when I asked them to.

Besides being the epitome of a good tradesman, Myron is a truly nice guy. If you, or anyone you know, needs some work done on your house, you would not regret hiring Myron.

what exactly did you have hime do?

The remodel included a 10x12 extension of a dining area, a 10x20 office and a doubling in size of an existing bedroom to make a new master bedroom over the office and existing family room with a master bath that extends out over the garage. There were also many other small additions to the existing structure.

Pictures are here.

That looks like a very fine job, and one which will make your house nicer for the growing children. It is also very nice of you to post and recommend your GC. Too often, all the trades hear about are the lights that don't work (is the switch on? Does the bulb work?), and a myriad of minor complaints.

I hope you also understand that Myron did you a huge favor that allowed you to save a couple of thousand dollars when he allowed you to paint yourself. Many contractors want nothing to do with homeowners self-performing work, because of the potential for non-performance, and screwing up a schedule.

I was dreading this project because of past experiences with lame contractors, some of whom I've worked for and felt bad about the way they treated their clients.

The funny thing Mark is that when we sat down and talked, Myron was pretty up front about not liking the painting part of the job. Like you say, other contractors hemmed and hawed when I let it be known that I was interested in doing finish work myself to save money. They stated that they didn't want their name on an unfinished product. Myron had no problem with this to the point that the office space is currently paint-ready drywall with a bare concrete floor.

Myron is a good guy who will do what it takes to get you what you want. The two references I met with, and viewed Myron's work before I signed a contract with him, said just that and the work he did on their houses was impressive.

Times are tough and guys like Myron deserve to get the work that's out there.

Post script...

Something I forgot to mention is that Myron works on only one job at a time, with some minor overlap at the beginning and end of the current job. The current job is the priority.

BTW, an insincere thanks goes to you, Prole, for gracing this thread with what I can only imagine is the number one choice from your private collection.

I assumed the moniker "Prole" was a reference to a member of the working class , but I now see that it as an abbreviation of "parole", which explains your choice of eye candy.

I got what I expected; sincere posts from the adults and potty humor from the tykes.

I merely noted that Prole is a fag.
