archenemy Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I listen to AK constantly! I love this woman and her band. I love the song where they allow the banjo player to get going and then he fucks up and stops and laughs. It makes me so goddam happy I just smile and smile and smile. Quote
Jim Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I saw AK the first time at the Georgetown campus in an interesting show - History of the Folk Violin, put on by the Smithsonian - back in 1988. She was a tiny thing, stepped up to the mike and said "I'm gonna sign you a song now" and then proceed to blow the socks off everyone in the house with a knockdown version of Wayfarin Stranger. Holy cow could she belt it out. I talked to her in the lobby at intermission and purchased an album that she signed. Sigh. Quote

The banjo player didn't fuck-up, but broke a string - much to his surprise and amusement of all. Quote
