swaterfall Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 Trip: Georgian Caucasus - New Routes Date: 5/16/2008 Trip Report: Tyler, Jason and I used our Hans Saari Grant $$$ to go to the Republic of Georgia to ski some new lines. So far we've only got this trailer video and a website under construction. I'll get some more pics up and a real TR soon. We'll be doing a few slideshows in Seattle, Bozeman and Sun Valley too. pSTToqM3Nbs Gear Notes: bring rubber boots for walking through pig shit. crazy_t Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Nice! Were you guys on Shkara? I've spent months ogling lines on those peaks while guiding Elbrus. The Svan live right on the other side of the Baksan valley, I've met a number of Georgians over there. Like the classic Svaneti towers in the video. How was the Kindzamaruli and Xvanchkara? Definitely will try to catch your slideshow and say hi. Quote

The hospitality of the Svans was great and if you like bread and cheese, well that's the place to be. I'll try to get a better TR and some slideshow dates up soon. Quote

danhelmstadter Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 (edited) I've been scheming for over a year on an Elbrus trip, logistic information is confusing and inconsistent, sounds like a chunk of $ to make it happen. Probally not the best time to go - as of last week, with the heavy military conflict in the immediate region. I met Tyler this summer at RMI, super cool dude.
