A 50m will work, not that anyone uses one anymore.

BTW, the route is simply "Zion," not sure why everyone says zebra_zion.

Because, you're wrong? Zebra composes the first ( 5.6), and the second (5.10a) pitch. Originally, this route continued to the top, to the left of Zebra-Zion. Zion is the connection to the upper portion of Lion Chair.

Sure, Zion is the name of the linkup of Zebra and Lions Chair.

Nowhere in the guide do you see anything refered to as "Zebra Zion."

Look in the index: Zion -page what ever

Look in the FA list: Zion, J Thompson 1977 etc

By your reasoning I'd think you'ld call the route Zebra_Chair

or ZebraZionLion or something

It was called Zebra Zion in Jeff Thomas original 1976 guidebook. I don't know what to tell you, I really don't give a fuck what you think

I have only been climbing there for 12 years and have climbed Zebra Zion probably 20 times……I have only heard it called Zebra Zion …….never Zebra…..or just Zion.

This is accurate.

.....I really don't give a fuck what you think

This appears (multiple post tipoff clue w/swearwords and backup documentation) to not be accurate.

If I wanted any shit from you, I'd squeeze your head

Would you squeeze his “potato head”?

I guess the guidebook and I are wrong.

Sorry, I'll drop it.

Fuck, your reading comprehension sucks. Watts (1992) page 78 (text) clearly states that Zion is the connection. The line drawing on page 77 shows the difference between routes #34 (Zebra), and #34a (Zion). Why do you insist in being so goddamn dense?

I'm not trying to be a dick, I'm just saying it doesn't really matter.

Mark is trying to be a dick.

Oh cry me a goddamn river. How is your high horse?

I love you. I just flat out love you.

all you nitpickers are freaking hilarious. i actually asked about the link up from gumby to the top of the second pitch, so technically it would be gumby-zebra-zion! or for gorgeous just gumby zion or maybe i'll just bolt the second pitch diehedral and rename the whole damn thing gumby.

LOL anything at "Smith" is dubious from the get go. Get over it and just climb. I'm getting tired of the useless banter on the board. A sign that climbing has taken a turn for the nerds and micro managers of the world...perhaps it's time to go.

unless you've taken a lot of acid and think you can fly...

I was topping out on North face of Broughtons once and bumped into an old friend, Ron Clark , at the top. He'd hiked up to the top. On acid, he was convinced he could fly off the cliff at that moment. Friends don't let friends fly on acid is the moral of the story.

an easy situation to rectify - walk him down to the parking lot and tell him, if he can demonstrate his ability to take off from the ground, you'll gladly push him off the top of the cliff! :)
