Alpine_Tom Posted July 10, 2001 Posted July 10, 2001 I'm betting half (or more) are IT types. (Like me, a LAN guy.) The next largest group will be in the legal field. Quote
jblakley Posted July 10, 2001 Posted July 10, 2001 I am an International Playboy/Spy. Then I wake up and go to my day job as a Web Test Engineer Quote
Kyle Posted July 10, 2001 Posted July 10, 2001 I'm a tech at an ISP. Pro- I've got bandwidth to burn, so I can read a lot of tr's of routes I'll never have the time to do. Con- Having only weekends off blows... it's just not enough time Quote
hikerwa Posted July 10, 2001 Posted July 10, 2001 I make copies for the legal industry. actually it is a sales job, but it is pretty flexible.... Quote
TimL Posted July 10, 2001 Posted July 10, 2001 Work........Ha Ha Ha..... Not for the last 4 months. With the lurking fear of a job in the near future, if anybody is up for climbing, email me Lucky14956@aol.com! When I do work its in Advertising/Marketing. Quote

Yossarian Posted July 11, 2001 Posted July 11, 2001 When I'm not wasting time on this site I aid in improving productivity as an industrial engineer. I figure if this site ever goes down I will get 34% more done at work. Quote
johnny Posted July 11, 2001 Posted July 11, 2001 I'm a fish biologist for the Puyallup Tribe. Usually I'm out playing with salmon. I live a very schizophrenic existance; splitting my life between tossing artificial bugs for cutthroat and swatting real ones while placing a nut. Every so often I am trapped behind a desk at which times I am thinkful for this BB and the diversion it provides! Quote
gapertimmy Posted July 11, 2001 Posted July 11, 2001 i work in the mountains at a ski resort but i run the IT department here so I still ride a computer most of the day, but beats the HELL out of working at msft (sorry softies) Quote
Dru Posted July 11, 2001 Posted July 11, 2001 Art teacher/assassin. (HA POPE! I beat you to it with that answer ) Quote
specialed Posted July 11, 2001 Posted July 11, 2001 Johnny, my good friend in Missoula has your job. He plays with fish DNA and flyfishes for a living a couple hours a week. The rest of the time he skis. Bastard. I currently work for the man at a software company, but plan to enter the legal profession so I can be like that lawyer in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Quote

forrest_m Posted July 11, 2001 Posted July 11, 2001 i.e. pushing pencils, perhaps...? i'm an architect... fairly flexible hours 'cause there's only 8 people in my office and i did manage to talk my boss into letting me take 3 months off earlier this year to go climbing... Quote
Dan_Petersen Posted July 11, 2001 Posted July 11, 2001 Trust Dru to crack the code. I thought Pencil Pusher sold pencils on a street corner somewhere. Quote
haireball Posted July 11, 2001 Posted July 11, 2001 I'm a slumlord in Leavenworth, drive a schoolbus during the schoolyear, and build sets for a community theater - never have had a "real" job. Oh, yeah, and play a banjo for a local church choir - go figure... oh, yeah - and teach a community college course titled "re-inventing yourself" - come visit! I can usually adjust my schedule to accommodate climbing partners... Quote
Lambone Posted July 11, 2001 Posted July 11, 2001 I work at the Gym in Seattle. It supplements my food and bills while I am in school. I used to climb there alot more before I got a job there. Now when I am done with work I just want to go home, and its the last place I want to be on my day off! Why am I not out climbing right now? Cause I am too busy blowing off my homework. And all my partners only have weekends off. Some day I fear I will be in their shoes... Quote
Matt Posted July 11, 2001 Posted July 11, 2001 I'm a writer. I write and research grant proposals for non-profit organizations when I'm not working on more creative writing projects for myself. It allows me to work at home which I love and I have a flexible schedule so the occasional midweek climb is allowable. Quote
Pencil_Pusher Posted July 11, 2001 Posted July 11, 2001 Umm, Johnny, spandex coated cellulite is a good thing. All hail female sport-climbers! Quote
Lambone Posted July 11, 2001 Posted July 11, 2001 Wrong spot PP... Hey erik, how about helping me pull off an insurance scam? [This message has been edited by lambone (edited 07-11-2001).] Quote
Dwayner Posted July 11, 2001 Posted July 11, 2001 I spent years in school, etc. to get a Ph.D. in the one of the world's coolest subjects and also one of the most worthless!!! Basically, I'm qualified to be an over-educated ditch-digger. On the other hand, I can wake up most mornings laughing my butt off that I actually make a decent living doing this stuff, and on a good year, which is most years these days, I grab more action and adventure than the average Joe will get in a lifetime! And I can climb basically whenever I feel like it! Yee haw! You don't want to know the details because it's too bizarre and everyone thinks I'm making it up when I tell them. Hey! What's for dinner? I'm thirsty! - Dwayner P.S. My dress for the office is a Hawaiian shirt and no shoes. P.P.S.S. Haireball! You rule! You made it happen, my brother, and I respect that!!! I'll be drinkin' one for you at the Engine House tonight!! Quote
glacier_dup1 Posted July 12, 2001 Posted July 12, 2001 I play geologist at a large engineering/environmental firm simultaneously making the world a better and worse place for puppies and children. Quote
EddieE Posted July 12, 2001 Posted July 12, 2001 I'm the director of a fitness department, do some personal training, manage an outdoor rec. program where I teach mountaineering and climbing. Spare time: guide sea kayaks and do a couple of websites. Quote
