olyclimber Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Is a WONDERFUL HUMAN BEING. shout it from the mountain tops. Quote
archenemy Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 I don't care what anyone says. Mark is a good guy. Quote
rob Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Mark's always treated me and my family well. Quote
AlpineK Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 He is an expert on plumbing even if it involves navigating crawl spaces. Quote
Hugh Conway Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Is he still a good guy if we tell you about the gimp? (and yes, Mark is good people) Quote
catbirdseat Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 He is an expert on plumbing even if it involves navigating crawl spaces. Well he is fond of his knee pads. Quote
Peter_Puget Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 Mark is one of the few from cc.com that I am not surprised to run into no matter where I am. Quote
pope Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 Mark is a prime candidate to be named Pope and Dwayner's "Alpine Buddy". And I don't think he will disappoint us the way the last recipient of this honor did. Quote
Raindawg Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Mark is a prime candidate to be named Pope and Dwayner's "Alpine Buddy". And I don't think he will disappoint us the way the last recipient of this honor did. Just had a conference call between So Cal and Western WA. and both pope and I solidly agree that Mr. Mark McKillop is hereby awarded the honorific and highly esteemed title of Dwayner 'n pope's ALPINE BUDDY OF THE YEAR FOR 2007. Congratulations, young man, and we's expects you not to follow the questionable path of the original [mistake] recipient. Aloha, our brother! Dwayner 'n pope. Trophy Wife: Your Trophy: Quote
catbirdseat Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 Thank You I truly deserve this Modesty. No tribute to Mark would be complete without a mention of one of his most compelling attributes. Quote
pope Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Mark knows his rocks. And if he'd let ya, you'd know 'em too. Quote
EWolfe Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Mark showed up at the Yosemite facelift, invited because they didn't have a campground, not a participant and did nothing but bitch. "What's with this Facelift thing?" "Can you keep the music down?" "Are those drummers going to play all night every night?" Basically being his curmudgeonly self... I had people come up to me for days after, asking: "Who was that guy complaining about everything?" Quote
olyclimber Posted January 2, 2008 Author Posted January 2, 2008 This isn't the Mark I know. The Mark I know has a sunny disposition and really knows how to "turn that frown upside down". He could easily be the lead for any spirit squad all the way up to the pros. Quote
AlpineK Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Hey Pope and Raindawg. I sadly had to disappoint Mark when I informed him that he didn't get banning power with his new title. I did tell him that I'm positive that he now has a wide array of new powers, responsibilities, and some perks. Send him a message and give him the lowdown on his new status. Quote
archenemy Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 I think bitching about stuff is an art, and it's artists should be appreciated for what they bring into our world. Quote

Feck, I see the little "moderator" icon next to your handle. With your special status, perhaps you can be of service. The first and perhaps the most important upgrade for the new Alpine Buddy should be to change the caption under his image. "Enthusiast" is one of those veiled insults that elite mountain climbers use to refer to wannabe climbers. I can think of a handful of synonymous words I've heard over the years....pilgrims, aspirants, gapers, candidates (that last one is Dave Bale's favorite). Maybe you, with your moderatorial powers, can help here. Let's change his image caption to ALPINE BUDDY. Quote

Strip the current disappointing proud owner of his "uniquesness" and apply it to the current flavor....that flavor being....none other than....Mr. Mark McKillop. Quote
Dechristo Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 And, Feck (while you're at it), change the caption under Raindawg's avatar pic to "Opine Buddy". Quote
