The millets are supposed to be the best.

I assume these are going to be for your Alaska West Buttress climb I read about in the spray section.

The NBC show? Looked like high dollar Westcomb and Feathered Friends gear.

And olympus mons boots with the distinctive center double zip...

For the record, I've never been above 6k meters and have absolutely no idea about that world. ;)

The best boot is the one that fits your foot, keeps them warm, and has a liner than can be dried out easily. There are numerous models that fit those criteria.

As stated before, Millet and Sportiva Olympus Mons are front runners in the integrated double boot category, meaning you don't have to have an overboot with these. Otherwise you can go for a more versitile boot like the Sportiva Nuptse or a plastic boot with an Intuition liner and combine that with an overboot. That system gives you more flexibility when it comes to using your boots in places other than high altitude slogging, not to mention more technical performance compared to something like the Olympus Mons.

I haven't climbed any 8000+ m peaks, but I have spent several hours in -38C/-36.4F conditions using the following:

lightweight (thin) liner sock

vapour barrier sock

heavyweight sock

Lowa Civetta Extreme with stock GTX & Thinsulate liner (I hear Intuition foam liners are even better)

40 Below "K2 Superlight" overboots

YMMV

Lots of people talking about the La Sportiva Batura

CC thread

I just saw some footage on a K2 X where the climbers were all wearing them.

Batura? I have them and on a bad day on Denali you'd loose toes using these boots.

Spantik or the something warmer depending on the route and amount of technical climbing
