tvashtarkatena Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 As long as legislation singles out forced marriages, separating them from arranged marriages with consent, it sounds like a sound way to move basic human rights forward. Now, about torture.... Quote

Kumbayah, my Lord..... If the Muslims, don't like the laws...then they can leave. That is their choice in a liberalized/socialistic government. Or the Muslims can elect leaders to change the laws into their favor. Sometimes the rules sux when you play in the sandbox. Quote

Dechristo Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Fahrvergnügen I'm flying in to PDX, Monday, to buy a VW TDI from a fellow cc.commer. Fahrvergnügen, indeed! ...as long as the buggy gets me back to Colorado without mishap, that is. Quote

Dechristo Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 As a matter of fact, the seller says he got a salvage title on it as it was abandoned there since last New Year's. Quote

Yeah, then JayB and Co.'ll be trying to get us to invade Eurabia: Mr. Podhoretz, the editor of Commentary and a founding neoconservative, tells us that Iran is the “main center of the Islamofascist ideology against which we have been fighting since 9/11.” The Islamofascists, he tells us, are well on their way toward creating a world “shaped by their will and tailored to their wishes.” Indeed, “Already, some observers are warning that by the end of the 21st century the whole of Europe will be transformed into a place to which they give the name Eurabia.” ---from NYT 10/29/07 Quote

archenemy Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Muslims move into a country and then want to force their shitty belief system on their host country. Call me un-PC, I don't give a crap. They cause unrest wherever they go. They don't want to become a part of the culture they move into, they want to force everyone around them to accept their fucked up beliefs. Quote

archenemy Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Totally beyond fucked up. Along with the Arabic language class comes a bunch of stuff about their culture. And although I can say that the language is beautiful and the Koran is all nifty, their social beliefs/behaviors should not (and cannot--no one else from a country with freedoms will take their shit) be exported. Don't like your own country anymore? Find one that you like better? Super. Move there, learn the language, and do as the Romans do. It's worked more or less for centuries. It is when groups of people refuse to fit in (I don't mean automatons--so don't take it to that level) that there are problems. You want to live somewhere like the motherland? Stay there. Don't come (insert country) and think shit like female circumcision, child labor, slashing forheads, forced marriage, inappropriate clothing, whatever is going to fly. Quote
