Craig Pope Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 all you climbers that love vantage but hate the mess that the concert goers leave, PLEASE get back to me if you are interested in getting together for a good Saturday of cimbing, and a morning of clean-up on sunday next weekend. I sure hope enough people respond to make this worthwhile and efficient. Quote
Weekend_Climberz Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 Craig, you rock. Would this be for the 25th of February, or for the 4th of March. I'm sure I can help round up a bunch of Vantage hound dogs to help out and might be able to prod the FCCC for some fundage as well. Quote
Weekend_Climberz Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 Maybe, PM Catbirdseat and Mattp while you are at it  Quote
Craig Pope Posted February 23, 2007 Author Posted February 23, 2007 (edited) well, I know Lucky pretty well, and he is the V.P. of FCCC, so I am sure I could get some fundage or at least a sick cookout. check out http://verticalpope.com/trips_07.html for photos of last weekend at vantage. and thanks for the support, It is so nice to know that others despise the mess. Â one thing in particular: the new red iron trail signs need to be grounded in Concrete. . .so if anyone would want to bring some mix, I'll pack it!! Â On March 4th. However I will be there both weekends. Edited February 23, 2007 by Craig Pope Quote
catbirdseat Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 I couldn't make Feb 25, but possibly Mar 4. Mattp isn't really a Vantage climber, but he might be interested, especially at this time of year. Be sure to contact Lucky Gibson and Craig Gyselink. MCash climbs there a lot too. Â Last time I was there in December, the place was fairly clean. The time it really needs cleanup days is during concert season. There are some projects that need doing, for sure, including pouring some concrete bases for signs. Quote
Craig Pope Posted February 23, 2007 Author Posted February 23, 2007 there is already a cleanup for this fall, I just wanted to do the 'pre-emptive' clean, get people in the mindset. Quote
Blake Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 if weather is climbable, i'd probably be in for MArch 4th. Quote
Weekend_Climberz Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 That's right bitches, clean some cracks one day, clean the ground the next. Or vice versa, whatever. I'll get a bag of quickcrete, anybody got a wheel barrel or bucket we can mix it in?? Quote
high_on_rock Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 (edited) OUCH, leadership class this weekend, count me back out Edited February 28, 2007 by high_on_rock Quote
Jens Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 I'm game to help with clean up and stewardship. Let's roll with this. ------ Vantage is no longer a pile with a bunch of new sport routes in the last few years. There are even a couple of 13's. It's the dose of sun we all need in the early spring. Â If your just sticking a sign in the ground, you can dump the quickcrete (quickset only) in first, water later, and mix with a shovel. No wheelbarrow required. Â I might be able to make the weekend of the 4th. Edited February 23, 2007 by tvashtarkatena Quote

Weekend_Climberz Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Hey Mod's, can we get this moved to Events so we can maybe drum up some more peeps. CC.com's gonna take over that bitch this weekend  Quote
Weekend_Climberz Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I've got six bags of quickcrete and room for two more CCer's if anyone else wants a ride out there. We're planning on climbing Saturday and working on placing signs on Sunday. Shoot me a PM. Quote
Craig Pope Posted March 5, 2007 Author Posted March 5, 2007 yeah, I like it a whole lot. I was out there all weekend, have 6 trash bags full of garbage, just got back, and talked to 50+ people out there making a fool of myself, asking who knew about the cleanup. 'uh, no dude, didn't know 'bout it, but I am just here to climb and then go home and sh*t in my back yard' sad sad sad Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 Weekend, Mcash, and I reinstalled 2 of the original metal signs with 120 lbs of Quickcrete (courtesy of Weekend) each, and one 4x4 wood post sign with an extra 60 lb bag. After an extensive search, we could not find the other 'missplaced' metal signs. If you find one, please let us know (we've got Quickcrete left over). Â There was not a spot of litter to be found anywhere. Quote
catbirdseat Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 Both the old signs and the new are metal. The old ones were made of aluminum, whereas the new ones are made of steel. As I recall, there were only two of the new signs, one near Agathla Tower and one at the Near/Far Trail junction. Quote
MCash Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 Thanks for picking up all of the trash Craig, the placed looked great. The new metal signs we replaced are near Agathla Tower and at the top of the hill where you break off the go to the gullies on the right. We also reinforced the gulley #3 sign. Â We need some more metal signs: Â 1. At the exit to the chimney saying Sunshine Wall right, and Riverview Park Wall left. 2. Gulley #2 3. Gulley #3 4. One where the trail forks between the M&M Wall area and Sunshine Wall. Â Maybe we can work on this later this year. Who made those signs? Can we get some more made? Quote
drater Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 I'll donate a sign that says: Â Beware: Falling choss and has the symbol for rocks falling. Â Ferildo. Quote
