Choada_Boy Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Looks more like a paraglider than a parachute, so probably not a BASE jump, IMHO. Quote
Jake_Gano Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 We watched them takeoff... they're gliders, not jumpers. Quote
Mr._Natural Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 I see the Larches are blowing up already. Quote
still_climbin Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 I ran into a guy carrying a paraglider up the approach route in August. His load was HUGE! I can't imagine that they climbed West Face NEWS with a load like that. The two in the posted photo don't appear to have any load the size of the one I saw. Quote
downfall Posted October 4, 2006 Author Posted October 4, 2006 The glider and the west face climbers are two different groups, those pictures were taken within probably 30 seconds of each other. Quote
still_climbin Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Where were you when you took the pics? Quote
goatboy Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 (edited) I'm guessing the pix were taken from Lexington... Â EDIT: Guess I was wrong, huh? Edited October 4, 2006 by goatboy Quote
downfall Posted October 4, 2006 Author Posted October 4, 2006 Since I'm bored at work and my climbing partner is photo trigger happy here are some more of the same thing. Â Â Â Â Quote
kurthicks Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 They launch from the basin just west of the SEWS approach. Quote
still_climbin Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Damn,I'd like to do that crack! Thanks for sharing the pics. Quote
Off_White Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Eric, don't let the 10d/11a rating put you off, the hard part is relatively short and the crack is good, you could always french free or aid the 20 feet or so of hard stuff, then have nothing harder than 10a or so in the rest of the crack. You could also use my approach, which was to bring along the ropegun. Â Nice pics Downfall, thanks for sharing. Quote
