Jens
Any guesses? A lot of my climbing partners have never posted on cc. Any guesses as to what portion of the climbing community post or read? At the climbing gym, a lot of folks that I climb with have never posted but read this site about once a month. Some of my older crusty alpine buddies never post also. Anyone math geek stat guy want to take a ballpark stab at this? Is this the largest local area climbing web site in existence? dinomyte
What I find interesting is this - At any given time: 8 people are viewing Northern Cascades; 3 people are viewing Alpine Lakes; 1 person is viewing Newbies; 2 people are viewing Rotten (Oregon) Cascades; and, 25 people are viewing SPRAY!!!!!! G-spotter
I know there are a hell of a lot of BC climbers who lurk but don't post!
JayB
I think quite a few people that dismiss the site use it for route photos, conditions beta, etc. A TR for an alpine route that's in condition, like the Triple Couloirs, is almost guaranteed to cause a bump in traffic. Jens
I know there are a hell of a lot of BC climbers who lurk but don't post! Some of the BC folks that I've climbed with have told me that when the ice comes in, they read cc daily and then taper off for the rest of the year. Off_White
Most of the climbers I know in Olympia only lurk, though some occasionally post. I'd guess the percentage is considerably lower than 25% of NW climbers, though one does tend to run into folks from here when out and about. crackers
In the gunks, the local access fund affiliate found that about 10% of the people who climbed on the preserve visited gunks.com or other local sites. I would expect it to be similar out there...
selkirk
10% seems a little bit low. Of the dozen folks I usually climb with I think i'm the only one who posts but at least 2 or 3 others lurk on occassion or come here for TR's/beta. I imagine CC might get more than say gunks.com or smithrock.com due to it's breadth and the high quality of spray The real question is.... how many sprayers actually climb
drater
The real question is.... how many sprayers actually climb Probably about the same percentage as climbers that post: less than 1%.
