JayB Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Found in a Canadian Magazine of All Places... MARK STEYN Michael Adams had a big hit with his last book, Fire and Ice, about the differences between America and Canada. My cousin always keeps a copy to hand and tells Americans, "If you want to understand the difference between our countries, read this book." And there's the rub. A couple of years back, I began some generalization or other by saying, "The difference between America and Canada is . . ." And the American I was imparting this insight to interrupted me with: "The difference between America and Canada is that Americans don't care what the difference between America and Canada is." Quote
G-spotter Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 but the book wouldn't sell in america anyways, cause americans can't read Quote
Skeezix Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 We're literate enough to capitalize the name of a country... Quote
TREETOAD Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Americans don't care about anything but America Quote

kix Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 we might like canadians better if they would take all the low paying labor jobs so we could boot all the mexicans (who are very nice) and not have to learn spanish just to get all our houses and yards cleaned. Quote
TREETOAD Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Ok let me reiterate. You guys are AWSOME!! America is a great country. Done great things. The problem lies with the clowns driving the bus right now and how they got hold of the wheel. Quote
archenemy Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 all the mexicans (who are very nice) I am pretty sure that it is racist to characterize a whole group of people--even if that characterization is "nice". I mean, is that any better than saying blacks are "lazy people". I don't think so. But hey, I'm just a woman. Quote
kix Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 the discussion was about countries and citizens e.g.: canadians, americans, mexicans. you turned it into a racist gender bash. so typical of a woman to twist the entire premise of the conversation. Quote

I'd rather get rid of all the xenophobic pricks so we wouldn't have to live with such a bland, homogeneous pseudoculture. So fuck you. Quote
JoshK Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Dear Canada, can we trade you the South for something, anything!? Please!!? Quote

G-spotter Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 No but you can trade us the Sierras for PEI Quote
Johnny_Tuff Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 PEI EWWWW...looks hella creepy. What is it, exactly? Looks like some kind of cross between Disneyland, a retirement community, and a concentration camp. Quote

Its likely people would still use pinata's and eat tortilla chips. so I;m sure your commercialized sense of we are the world would not come tumbling down around your twisted schoolgirl panties. now heres 55,000,000 pesos, go buy yourself a better sense of humor instead of the one you have which was probably made in a asian sweatshop by child labor from a company owned by a Thai family who also smuggle unwitting slaves to America to add spice to your melting pot. Johnny_Tuff Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 commercialized sense of we are the world What is that supposed to mean, Mr. White America? Quote
kix Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 back to race again. tsk, tsk. you bemoan xenophobes and homogenous psuedoculture like you are the utopian example of multicultural embracement and then you toss out weak race laced insults? bad form. Quote
Johnny_Tuff Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 OK, you want to kick out Mexicans, but you are upset at being called on it. Mirror? Quote
