Yeah, it's "Roland Pauligk" that is the correct spelling - as in the Pauligk Pillar in Red Rocks.

But everyone knows it really means Really Pathetic pro. Back in the day they recommended placing clusters of 5-6 of them so if you lobbed onto them the first four or five would probably break wires or pull but that would absorb enough energy (like a screamer) that the 6th one would stop you.

Actually, bolts are appropriate when placed on the lead where no other reasonable pro will work. I prefer to toprope, rather than beat the rock into submission in the name of "leading" on rap-placed bolts. If you rap bolt, then "RP" stands for real puss.

Bolts are beautiful works of art - representing the triumph of the human soul over fear of commitment and danger - and should be placed everywhere to enhance persons' appreciation of nature. This includes up the Peace Arch and on the Fremont Troll. grin.gif
