  1. The "regular" is 5'9" and the "long" is 6'4" per my 2003 Moonstone brochure.
  2. i used one all last summer also. it's a great bag.
  3. thanks. yes, a great effort either way.
  4. i didn't think the question was that difficult. who said anything about debating? i'm not questioning their effort or the style it was carried out in. i have any no interest in debating rules or do i have any interest in establishing a set of rules. as i said, i am curious whether it was supported or not. what does the ironman, a sanctioned event, have to do with my question? the ironman is supported and it would be a coupletely different event if it weren't. why don't you let the guy that knows, answer the question.
  5. Jeremy, Do you know if that was a "self-supported" effort? Did they carry all of their own food, water, and gear? Just curious about the rules of "the record". thx.
  6. stim lead illusion dweller free at josh this spring. a pretty solid .10b in my mind.
  7. the question - did they bail off onto iconoclast or did they do hyperspace?
  8. i went by there sunday afternoon. it's about 15 minutes up the middle fork trail. all the routes were dry even though it is north facing. a tarp would be handy because the ground is damp.
  9. actually, you can't see the CMC until you are by bridge cr. campground. you are probably refering to the hook creek drainage that takes you up to the mole and the duolith. it is directly across the valley from givler's.

    INGALLS PEAK

i was up there 2 weeks ago (sat.) and i was turned around by the notorious snow patch at about 5.5-6 miles from the road end. if you make it past this, you are usually good to go for quite a ways. i was there again last sat. and i made it past the original patch, but was thwarted a half mile up the road by a 3ft. deep, snowmobile packed patch. nobody had crossed this patch or was going to unless they were on a "machine". the snow is melting fast, but i have no idea what snow patches are beyond the one that stopped me.
  11. Jason, Yes, I'm familiar with the history of the mountain. I believe the routes to the true summit take even longer (than SD) - it is a big hill. I don't disagree with your comments. I don't know Michael and I hope he didn't take offense - that was not my intention. I know Matt, and yes, I was having some fun with him. I see how that may not have been apparent. I've always thought Matt was a strong and resourcesful climber and he did a good job getting himself out of an unfortunate situation.
  12. Well articulated response Matt. I wasn' t really aware of all those statements made by the media. Yes, I agree, they are quite ridiculous. That descent is not a straight forward walk-off and I doubt you guys will be the last to make that mistake. I hope you didn't take my jabs (hiker/Mountaineers) to seriously because they were supposed to be funny. Peace.
  13. Matt, Let me get this straight. It's the media's fault that your family was concerned/worried? You were the one that a) took 2 days to do a grade III+ b) Couldn't find the obvious descent gully and c) it was your friend that called SAR Am I missing something? I think the media was spot on regarding "hikers" because it sounds like you did alot of hiking. Only on Cascade Climbers would people say "great job". Was this a Mountaineers outing? I'm glad you guys are ok.
