cj001f Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 incredible - glad dude's okay - the girly pony-tail definetly loses it's coolness when accelerating at 9.8 m/s2 Are you corrupting our children with that heinous metric system? Quote
NYC007 Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 yeah the pony tail is not fitting him so well... But anyway I know the guy and his GF ( belayer..), Last I heard he is doing fine, but the piece he fell on was a trango cam (old type) that blew out. Quote
jefffski Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 glad he is ok. although he did not hit his head, wearing a helmet would not have made a difference here, it was pretty close. Â i also noticed the belayer--is she trying to take up the slack? kind of hard with her hand facing up that way. Â if she is not taking up slack it sure takes her a long time to lock off the belay. Â let's be careful out there Quote

Chriznitch Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 yeah there are certainly some things to learn from her belaying...seems like she was more concerned with getting out of the way than locking off. Natural instinct when someone is flying at you of course. Quote

knotzen Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 Hindsight = 20/20 Â Wearing a helmet isn't hindsight; it's foresight. Quote
whidbey Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 No matter what...that is some kick ass picture takin!.. Glad he didn't kill himself. Cute hair though. Quote
chirp Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 Hindsight = 20/20  Wearing a helmet isn't hindsight; it's foresight. Do you see anyone wearing a "hemet" in them pics  Those photo's are pure hindsight, esp for the belayer. Quote
Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 Those photo's are pure hindsight, esp for the belayer. Â Thank heavens the belayer had the foresight to use a Gri-Gri, which, in hindsight, was a really good idea! Quote
whoohoonickieclimbs Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 The 'medic' in me has to ask.....did you sustain any injuries? Besides some superficial scrapes? Quote

Thank heavens the belayer had the foresight to use a Gri-Gri, which, in hindsight, was a really good idea! It is quite possible that the gear never would have pulled had she not been using a GriGri. Quote

No one can say for sure, but the GriGri could have made the difference between an ordinary leader fall and decking. Quote

your an idiot with no real grasp of "real world" physics happening in climbing...get fuckin' real...the gri gri had nothing to do with the pieces pulling... Quote
Cobra_Commander Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 your an idiot... Â Generally you want to make sure punctuation and spelling are correct in these kinds of statements... Quote

Dru Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 Pink fuckin tricams would have held even with a GriGri Quote
Cobra_Commander Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 yeah but if you look closely in the photo you will see this guy is not an octopus, which would be a prerequisite to place and subsequently clean this pitch with tricams. Â it would be funny to see tricams to 1" in a guidebook though. Quote

No one can say for sure, but the GriGri could have made the difference between an ordinary leader fall and decking. Â The Catbird might be a poopy-pants, but he might also be right in this case. I don't let my belayer's use a gri-gri when I'm climbing gear routes. Quote
Cobra_Commander Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 be sure to extend the grigri with webbing too. Quote
