MysticNacho Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 Man... I'm game. I live in North bend, and am certainly up for either the quah or exit 38. Wouldn't mind heading to the pass when things get colder as well. Anybody have a bunch of coleman lanterns?
John Frieh Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 A lack of light is a good thing IMO... it helps teach you how to "feel" holds with your tools and pons... something you will have to learn how to do sooner or later as you advance into super steep routes and can't always see past the bulge you are trying to move past.
Weekend_Climberz Posted November 20, 2005 Author Posted November 20, 2005 We'll have to take a head count a few days before the next event (12/1/2005) to see how many people are going to be coming. If there are going to be a lot of people it might be more productive for everyone to meet at exit 38 due to the limited routes available at the spot in Issaquah.
RocNoggin Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 I know it is early for a headcount but I think I'm game to give DT a try! :-)
selkirk Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Bump... Â So who's going to be there on thursday? Have a new toy to try out and i'm itching to use it!
Weekend_Climberz Posted November 28, 2005 Author Posted November 28, 2005 I pm'd olyclimber to move this.
daveheinbach Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 This sounds like fun... My weekday nights are pretty full right now but I'm going to monitor the thread for sure.
Weekend_Climberz Posted November 29, 2005 Author Posted November 29, 2005 Alright, so it's time for another Seattle Drytool Night. Make sure to check the link below for what you should bring and I've also posted the preliminary forecast. Make sure to bring gloves and warm close to stand around in. Please, if you plan to attend PM me so that I can get a head count. Thanks and see you there. Â PDX Dry Tool Thread for what to bring and other info (note: for gear information only!!) Â Forecast Thursday: Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain and snow. Highs in the upper 30s. Thursday Night: Rain and snow likely. Lows in the lower 30s. Â <timmay!>
Weekend_Climberz Posted November 30, 2005 Author Posted November 30, 2005 That sounds good. I have yet to receive any PM's from anyone else though. So, the plan is to meet at the same spot (Issaquah P&R off exit 14 in the SW corner of main lot) at 3:00pm.
RocNoggin Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 shit! I wanted to go this week but forgot my tools in Oly! and all my other gear too! LOL looks like another night at the gym...
selkirk Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 I think we have enough tools for 2 ropes, and i've got an extra set of Grivel G-12's. If you've got your boots and clothes that's probably all that's necessary.
Weekend_Climberz Posted November 30, 2005 Author Posted November 30, 2005 I think we have enough tools for 2 ropes, and i've got an extra set of Grivel G-12's. If you've got your boots and clothes that's probably all that's necessary.  Yes, there will be plenty of tools to go around with a nice surprise for those who come. You will need boots and crampons and definately some warm clothes. I have extra harnesses (2) and one extra helmet (w/headlamp) for anyone who does not but still wishes to come.  The Plan:  Be at the Issaquah P&R at 3:00pm 12/1/2005 around the SE corner entrance (NW Newport Way and Highway 900). Depending on how many people show up, so far about three others for sure, we will decide what location to hold it at to allow the most climbing time for everyone.  Hope to see you there  <timmay>
RocNoggin Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 when I said that "all my other gear" was left in Oly I really meant ALL my other gear: boots, jacket, anything warm. everything. Â thanks for the offer of shared tools, etc. I really appreciate that, I will try to be prepared for next week! :-)
John Frieh Posted December 1, 2005 Posted December 1, 2005 "Dry Tooling" is starting to look not so dry  Wait till you start "freeing" what would have been aid pitches in the alpine and getting up the route without having to bivy
Weekend_Climberz Posted December 1, 2005 Author Posted December 1, 2005 "Dry Tooling" is starting to look not so dry  Snowing in Downtown Seattle from where I'm sitting. Should be the same in the Quah. I'm still game.
OlympicMtnBoy Posted December 2, 2005 Posted December 2, 2005 :-( Sorry I missed it. Went to a World Aids Day thing with my GF. Everyone have fun in the snow? Next week?
Weekend_Climberz Posted December 2, 2005 Author Posted December 2, 2005 I don't think anyone will knock you for attending World Aids Day unless they are a Bush party affiliate. Oops, that belongs in spray. Â Anyway, it was another good night of climbing with the added effect of snow. It almost felt as if we were in the mountains, almost... Â Next week, same bat time, same bat channel. Bring on the spray!
selkirk Posted December 2, 2005 Posted December 2, 2005 Two new routes are also awaiting investigation to boot!
Alex Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 I and two partners tried the right hand steep crack/dihedral today. We collectively cleaned the route of a large loose flake and a troublesome bramble, but otherwise the route went, pretty fun, powerful moves but not as long as the other two lines. Setting a TR anchor for this line should be feasible.
Weekend_Climberz Posted December 5, 2005 Author Posted December 5, 2005 That sounds great. Is this the line we looked at on Thursday before we left? Or, is it over in the wet streak? Looking forward to checking it out on Thursday.
dewey73 Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 Can anyone provide a quick count and/or description of the lines that are currently at exit 38? I've only seen a couple, but was up there when a bit of snow was covering so may have missed some. Thanks.
selkirk Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 Can't make it tomorrow, have unavoidable work that I won't be able to do any other time Have fun though and I should see you next week!
