AlpineK Posted November 12, 2002 Posted November 12, 2002 If we drink in Seattle I vote for Als Quote
wayne Posted November 12, 2002 Posted November 12, 2002 Als sounds good to me too.any one 3rd the vote? Quote
To_The_Top Posted November 12, 2002 Posted November 12, 2002 Where is Als? I might be strongarmed with money or beer, but might be late. TTT Quote
AlpineK Posted November 12, 2002 Posted November 12, 2002 Al's Tavern 2303 N 45th From I-5 take 45th and head west. It's just west of Dick's; Taco Time HQ is on the other side of the street. There isn't much in the way of food at Al's, but there's lots of places for food in the neighborhood. Quote
To_The_Top Posted November 12, 2002 Posted November 12, 2002 OK you got a third. I hope I can make it at a decent hour, if I dont get stuck way late like the last three weeks I'll do it. TTT Quote
Dave_Schuldt Posted November 12, 2002 Author Posted November 12, 2002 Yo hasbeens, wanabes and neverwillbes it's time to decide where to drink. I suggest Teddy's at 65th and Rosivelt NE or Als on N45th in Walingford near The Erotic Bakery. Smoking bars with no food. However, there are plenty of places nearby to eat. Quote
Dave_Schuldt Posted November 12, 2002 Author Posted November 12, 2002 Als is a place we havn't ben to yet, sounds cool to me. Quote
Beck Posted November 12, 2002 Posted November 12, 2002 well, being a townie, I'm down with al's, I can't seem to find any bar with soul on the eastside, except the Roanoke on Mercer Island. Since I'm working on the Eastside now going to a place there after work is easy for me, and i thought a couple folk expressed interest in downing some beverages that side of the lake. But isn't Al's kindof small to accomodate Pub Club numbers? A much bigger bar nearby would be Goldie's on 45th- or we could go to a bar with Free popcorn, free apps (you old farts remember free appetizers at happy hour, don'tcha? There's still some bars that offer chafing dishes of free grub) or rediculously low food prices for us non-yuppie climbers. Quote
Dave_Schuldt Posted November 12, 2002 Author Posted November 12, 2002 Good idea Beck, I forgot about that place. Quote
AlpineK Posted November 12, 2002 Posted November 12, 2002 On Tuesday at 7PM seatting at Al's shouldn't be a problem. Quote
mattp Posted November 12, 2002 Posted November 12, 2002 About the Eastside: Out of purely selfish motivations (I have a meeting in Bellevue) I proposed an eastside pubclub for tonight over a week ago and nobody responded. Beck again proposed it last night. Again nobody responded. So lets have an eastside pubclub another time. About Als: The owner is cool, and one of the most talented bartenders around. Does anybody know if Max will be there tonight? Quote
AlpineK Posted November 12, 2002 Posted November 12, 2002 He might be, but he spends most of his time at the Sunset. Quote
Dave_Schuldt Posted November 12, 2002 Author Posted November 12, 2002 Let's call it at Als, see you there! Quote
thelawgoddess Posted November 12, 2002 Posted November 12, 2002 cool. who's stopping by the erotic bakery to pick up the hors d'oeuvres? Quote

dr._jay Posted November 13, 2002 Posted November 13, 2002 cheers to a fine pub club last night, made even better by the very successful post-al's inaugaration of my new hot tub. a fine finish for the late nighters--maybe next time the turnout will be a bit better. beck you the man, we missed you last night. also i ended up with somebody's jacket, drop me a line and i'll get it back to you. thelawgoddess Posted November 13, 2002 Posted November 13, 2002 i nominate dr. jay's place for all ensuing pub clubs. Quote
Uncle_Tricky Posted November 13, 2002 Posted November 13, 2002 Glad all ya'll had fun. I shoulda woulda gone, but had big plans that didn't quite turn out as expected. I had a very nice woman over to my place. I cooked sockeye salmon I caught in Alaska. I made tasty salad. I baked homemade garlic bread. We drank red wine and were merry. At 9:30, the cab showed up to take us downtown. Destination: Yonder Mountain String Band. We were super-psyched to groove to some jamgrass. The cab drops us off in front of the Showbox. It seems a little quiet. Too quiet. In fact, the doors are locked, and nobody is there. I remove the tickets from my pocket and discover that the show is on Thursday. Ah well, I guess it's better to be two days early for a show instead of two days late! Quote
