keithrobine
Besides Thailand, can anybody think of someplace closer that has tropical ocean beaches and climbing (at least decent bouldering)? I'm looking for a place to take the family and still get my fix. Anywhere in Mexico? Thanks, Keith

Collin
Some one mentioned Virgin Gorda as a good place to go for bouldering, beach chillin, and views. I've never been there but it looks good. virgin gorda bouldering
goatboy
I heard that Sardinia has lovely beaches and nearby climbing . . . . supposedly a "romantic" climbing destination (if you're into romance.)
Dru
Kalymnos, not exactly tropical, but very warm in season! Puerto Rico, see old back issues of Rock and ice Vietnam North end of Madagascar Brazil, Rio has sea cliffs.
J_Fisher
Cayman Brac is supposed to have all the standard Carribean stuff (beaches, scuba diving, etc.) as well as limestone sport climbing. Never been but worth looking into. http://www.tradgirl.com/caymans/
ryland_moore
Most of Cayman Brac is tough climbing, so be ready to lead over 5.11. Most of the climbs are rap in. I have a few friends who have been. For a different spin on things, you can climb Orizaba and only 4 hours away be sitting on the beaches in and around Veracruz. I think it may the only place in the world where you can stand on an 18k foot peak and be at a warm tropical beach all within the same day. cj001f
Brazil, Rio has sea cliffs. Not to mention multi-pitch Granite up to 5.14 Of course every one I've met who's been to Rio's been mugged.... For non-traditional beach rent a houseboat on Lake Foul, I mean Powell. Thinker
It's not any closer than the Seychelles, but Toix is one of the cooler places I've been. The greater Costa Blanca region is spectacular.

cj001f
The Baltic seems like a cool place. If you like flatlands and cold temperatures yes. Not alot of climbing in Finland, Latvia, Lithuania though.
Dru
Theres supposed to be awesome bouldering on these granite islands in the Baltic. I saw a film on it a year or two ago but can't remember what the name of the place was. Highs to +20C most of the summer and 20 hour daylight in June and July. specialed
Fuck the bouldering. I'd be focusing my energies on climbing on the tall blond Baltic ladies.

cj001f
If that's all it takes for an awesome bouldering destination why aren't people flocking to northern Minnesota? I'd say this is a bit more inspiring:
