Terminal_Gravity Posted February 9, 2005 Author Posted February 9, 2005 Thanks Wayne...that was what my instincts were telling me as well. Living 5 hours away I was hopeing for an opinion, like yours, that might have a bit more reality to back up instincts. Quote

ivan Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 there's no doubt if there's rime on the ridge; all that matters is how solid it is, which seems to matter most on how cold it is when you're there Quote

Terminal_Gravity Posted February 9, 2005 Author Posted February 9, 2005 doesn't wayne live almost as far away from hood as you do steve? Yeah, but he is the only person that bothered to comment (to that point)...and besides he's Wayne. Quote
Couloir Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 there's no doubt if there's rime on the ridge; all that matters is how solid it is, which seems to matter most on how cold it is when you're there As Jeff Thomas so eloquently puts it: "The catch is that rime ice is often impossible to protect. Take your ice tools, pickets, and other technology, but know that on this route the old advice still holds true; the leader must not fall." Tru dat! Quote
Hal_Burton Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 Lower Yocum today. If you ain't there this weekend.....you're nowhere! Quote
iain Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 hold on, I haven't installed the turnstiles yet. on a positive note, it looks to be in way better condition than the last time you attempted it TG Quote
texplorer Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 Doesn't look to be in condition to me. From my last couple of excursions up there though I think it can be climbed in much worse conditions if you bypass the gendarme. My next time up I'm not even going for the first gendy unless it looks to be in super condition. Quote
