billcoe Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Ivan/erik, big tall guy, nice fellow, can catch falls well I enjoyed climbing with him. Â Yo, no need for him to anchor in to catch you eh? Â Please note the revese is not true. Quote
ivan Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 that being said, i'm sure my man there would rather have been caught by the comely female who was watching him thrutch at the time Quote
Cobra_Commander Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 if blownout is 10a, windsurfer is so not 10b Quote
billcoe Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 if blownout is 10a, windsurfer is so not 10b  What is it Iain? Isn't Windsurfer 10a too?  The babes must like watching him thrutch Ivan. Quote
Cobra_Commander Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 I'll just say blownout is significantly harder than windsurfer and I'm sticking to it. Quote
powderhound Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 I'll just say blownout is significantly harder than windsurfer and I'm sticking to it. Â To me it felt like a lot routes at devils tower. No move was harder than 10a but the whole route was a sustained. Therefore when you reach the upper crux it feels harder than it is, and lie back always do anyways. Quote
ivan Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 more accurately i'd say the second pitch of blownout goes at 5.whah - hella fun though and worth murdering my favorite climbing shirt for.... Quote
fheimerd Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 Nice job on that route. Was wondering how things went after chatting you at the base. The second pitch is definately one of the harder 10a's around. Got to love those stout climbs at beacon. Quote
ivan Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 beacon friday anyone? afternoon or morning or both... Quote
billcoe Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Like to take an easy day, maybe run up the SE corner and need a partner. Â Wrist still a bit off, but can still belay to 5.13c, as long as it's single pitch. Quote
powderhound Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 I am looking for a partner for sunday, would like to go to beacon. And try and do a bunch of moderate pitchs, just see how many we can do in a day. kind of a training day. I want to work on moving faster Quote
billcoe Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Hound: I'd be game but don't think I'm more than 50% right now so why stick my wrist in a jam and wang-it-off to total failure. Â I need someone who wants to hang with a hurt old man for 3 hours or so for some easy pleasing cruising and just getting out. I rather do it Sat. to see how it feels. I would do that Sunday for 1/2 the day. I'm taking my wife and mom to a fancy restraunt at 5pm Sunday though so I need to be back in town by 4pm or earlier. Â I might just go do some easy bouldering on Sat. too to see. Quote
powderhound Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 thanx but I think I actually might just head out to the hills. Quote
billcoe Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Mountains? Bet if you grabbed your tools with a partner and headed to do the Elliot/Petes combo you'd feel worked by the end of the day. Â BTW, for the boards FYI, my version of moderate = 5.7-5.8, Hounds moderates low 10's I'd bet. Â Hound, Beacon moderates; you might look at little wing, Jills, the crack to the left of LW, and right gull for some easier moderates at Beacon. Quote
powderhound Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 (edited) thanks for the flatery Bill. However my idea of moderates for sunday would have been like 5.8-5.9, but that doesn't mean I don't love crusing up easier stuff. A couple of my top favs are a 5.7 and a 5.8 at city of rocks, wheat thin and rye crisp. Â bryan Edited July 14, 2006 by powderhound Quote
Mav Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Hey Bill, sorry to hear about your injury *yikes* glad you are feeling better enough to go out again! does this mean you'll only be running 3 laps at a time now instead of 6+? Â i'll be at Beacon on Sunday doing some easy/moderate climbing... Should be a beautiful day, my wednesday Beacon outing/day off got rained out so i went mountain biking in Post Canyon instead. Quote
JosephH Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 I'll be out with my wife Rhoda on Saturday and up for yardage on moderates both days this weekend. Also will be taking Gabe Bailey of the BRSP staff up the corner for his first climb... Quote
billcoe Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Thanks Mav, yup, 3 laps max ! So, can I squeeze in with someone Sat? Maybe we can get there early and have it to ourselves? Â I have a call in to Jimmy O as well (left message which means he's at Beacon now) - as I have his reworked shoes that just came in today, and could do it with him if he was accomodating: if you guys don't want it to be too big of a cluster... Â Joe, you should hook up with the hound and burn some laps Sunday. See who crys Uncle first kind of thing. Do R gull, Jills, etc. Quote
John Frieh Posted July 14, 2006 Author Posted July 14, 2006 Joe, you should hook up with the hound and burn some laps Sunday. See who crys Uncle first kind of thing. Do R gull, Jills, etc. Â Hey don't hurt him! I need him for the bugs next month and Hyalite this winter! Â sphinx sphinx sphinx Quote
billcoe Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 John: I suspect that the hound will be unfazed at the end of the day...... Â Stetch out good Joe. Â Hey, anyone want to see a picture of my nuts? Quote
billcoe Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 My nuts  HB Brass offsets are available to buy right now. Full sets. Brand new. I just got some in today. Quote
