SnowByrd Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 went on Saturday...was icey and bare but there was snow...and we skiied. Quote
Toast Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 skiied what babe? They opend with 12" at the base and 26" up top Quote
thelawgoddess Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 you can ski on 12". might not be very exciting skiing, but you can ski. Quote
Double_E Posted December 18, 2004 Posted December 18, 2004 all I can say, SB.... I hope you didn't ski with brand-new skis (if i recall, you were thinking 'bout getting some) Â i only have one pair, and they're fairly new, so i'm gonna wait till there's a niiice, thick base, and all the rocks and treetops are all covered up. Quote
Jens Posted December 19, 2004 Posted December 19, 2004 Is Crystal's base currently at about 4 inches because they opened with a 12" base and it has only been super warm since then- And to warm to use the snomaking machine? __ Time to dust off the rock shoes and head to icicle creek canyon. Quote
AlpineK Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 I talked to a friend on Saturday evening who had spent the day at Baker. He said the bottom of the hill was snow mixed with mud. Â Baker has the most snow of all the areas, so you connect the dots. Quote
KaskadskyjKozak Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 I talked to a friend on Saturday evening who had spent the day at Baker. He said the bottom of the hill was snow mixed with mud. Baker has the most snow of all the areas, so you connect the dots.  I was at Baker on Saturday as well. The snow *was* thin at the bottom, but there were only a few places where "snow was mixed with mud".  Overall the conditions were more like the end of April than December.  The views of Shuksan were nice though. :-) Quote
SnowByrd Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 Went to Crystal on Ssaturday and there was barely anything...ice and rock. I rented skis. Was a beautiful warm day and we had fun though. They closed the next day Quote
chelle Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 Went to Baker on Sunday and the conditions sucked. The lower slope at the White Salmon lodge was pretty muddy, but the snow cat groomer was trying to cover it up with snow from the area next to the lift. Good luck with all the rain. I'm sure it is all frozen mud and snow right now after the rain yesterday. Â Their website snow report boasted a 37" base and said all lifts were running on Sat. Mud on the slopes doesn't jive with anything near a 37" base. Salvaged the trip with a nice hike off the Mt. Baker Highway. Quote
Greta Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Sorry to hear that Chelle. The bc conditions in north yellowstone were, hmmmm, badassssss. Coupla feet of dry and fluffy pow. Unfortunately, I think its the best action Ill get all season. Makes me not want to come back to seattle. See yall soon, I suppose. Quote
Ricardo_Montalban Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 "true" conditions can be found here  all NW telemetry sites can be found here or here  greta, i love your sig!! Quote
MPaul_Hansen Posted December 26, 2004 Posted December 26, 2004 At Crystal web site, one can sign-up to be emailed with conditions. Since I do not get up that way much, can not verify how good the emailed information is. Quote
