Blake Posted December 7, 2004 Share Posted December 7, 2004 I'm going up from Bellingham to Whistler Thursday, with a stop at MEC on the return. I've never been to either before, how long of a drive should I plan for? Should I follow the Whistler webpage's directions... or is there a way to avoid downtwn Vancouver? Any advice on whether Whistler or Blackcomb mtns are better at this coverage level? IF I were to stop at an MEC, is Van or N.Van the place? Thanks! Dru Posted December 7, 2004 Share Posted December 7, 2004 Don't think N Van MEC is open yet. Â Downtown Vancouver is casual except during rush hour. Avoid rush hour. Â It might be faster to go through Aldergrove and then follow Highway 1 to Horseshoe Bay (thus avoiding downtown entirely on the way up) Â Should take about 2.5-3 hours from Bellingham to Whistler seeing as how it is your first time. Stavrogin Posted December 8, 2004 Share Posted December 8, 2004 dru is right, aldergrove/lynden border is the way to go. you'll get the least questioned/hassled by the border folk than the other crossings. plus you can stop at edaleen dairy just south of the border on the guide for really good ice cream! Â You can get stuck behind a goddamned milk truck or something on those roads in and out of that crossing. Why the hell am I debating this?
