layton
Okay, the mountain has been climbed, but this SURE hasn't. This is also just the top of the mountain, there's 2/3 more down below. Near a road. In washington state. Hmmmmmm. What could this be?? 1st ascent goes to who can guess

chucK
If you could rap bolt it, means that you've climbed it already. (unless you helo'd up there I guess ) Will we get our name in your guide if we climb it? Do we have to wait for your damn guidebook to find out what it is? Is it in the Bugs or WA Pass? jordop
How do you know it's unclimbed? Seems to me there's only one way to prove that
scott_harpell
Dude that things like 2 pitches high anyways, it's "the big So What" Well considering Mikey said 2/3 was hidden, I would estimate it is a bit bigger than that.
NYC007
looks like a formation neat the Snout.
Dru
I don't care if 2/3 are hidden cause 2/3 of what's visible is 3rd class forest
layton
Dru, the photo is foreshortened. The route itself would be about 1500' I'll dig out a photo of the lower portion if I can find it.
layton
Here's one option (several) for the lower 1/3 hint: I thought this may have good ice in the winter Gi-fucking-ganticly too big image: And here is another shot of the top... Hint: note the See-tru couloir! neat-o
genepires
secret renton granite? pooty tang tower? so are you saying Mikey that it is not in the wash pass area at all? Not in kangaroo / wallaby area? Not north of the hwy 2 east of the pass?
jordop
It is definitely in WA pass, but that seems to be the only thing going for it by the looks of it Some halfmoon cedar creek backside of kanagroo ridge or sumpthin. whatever
Billygoat
Let's do it!
layton
It is in WA pass. It's the north face of Porcupine Peak. You will need bolts and that upper headwall is STEEP! Want to do a 1st ascent? Here are much much better alternatives (the would probably require bolts) Half Moon's N,E, and W.faces Cross over notch to the left Half Moon and drop down into the Big Kangaroo area. Shitloads of huge granite. N.face of Holliway N.faces of Ares tower area blah blah blah. get out and check stuff out. I didn't do any of these cuz they didn't have any lines that stuck out as going clean (I don't have a hand drill). I do have some secret stuff that I will use a handdrill on that looks better, however...

jordop
OK Mike, what's the deal? Your photos of Porq above make it look like a little crag surrounded by like 20' tall trees And the photos in the other thread about Porq, taken from Hardy, make it look a hell of a lot bigger and more alpine than your shots. You sure your photos aren't of a lower subsummit
layton
it is a multifaceted peak
layton
This is the face where the 5600 foot mark is. Swamp creek drainage is the valley to the North, and Hwy 20 is just off the map due west Edited October 26, 2004 by michael_layton

philfort
So Mike's face is the left side of the prominent bump on the right (the one that has bare rock visible on its south (right) face).
