neversummer Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 That's ski season, why would you want to go climbing then? Quote
Dru Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 learn to aid climb so you can climb in the rain but basically there are gonna be less than 2 dry weekends in that 2 month period and its not cold enough for waterfalls yet (usually) so that is the timew to finally do your laundry, read war and peace, or go on a road trip! arapiles can be nice at that time of year... eric8 Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 whatever dru, I made it to index 3 times in the month of december last year, So to answer your question you can climb just about anywhere in WA if you have a flexible schedule or unless we get an early snow in leavenworth. The world war 1 is good because it overhangs but the easiest route is 5.9 and there are only 2 of those. Quote
Dave_Schuldt Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 MT Erie near Anacortes, the driest crag in western Washington. Many of the routes are south facing. There should be a guide book out soon. Great views of the San Jauns, Olympics, Whidbey Island and the Cascades. If your lucky the Bald Eagle family will do a fly by. Quote
bigwalling Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 On El Cap between the trip and zodiac. It's going to be a rad christmas! Quote
Dru Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 whatever dru, I made it to index 3 times in the month of december last year how many days were on weekends? would you bet on dry rock 3 weekends in dec.??? So to answer your question you can climb... if you have a flexible schedule ... exactly. if you are a weekend warrior you might just have to pull plastic if weather doesnt cooperate. not everyone can just ditch classes on a blue sky day. Quote
bigwalling Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 I think this past winter was pretty light in terms of weather. Index was nice a lot of days. Quote
eric8 Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 one of the times was a weekend, I didn't skip class though for the other 2 Seriously though don't worry about it if you want to your commited enough you will climb Quote
larrythellama Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 index is usually better then people think in the winter, tho we would not want that to get out and have the people from seattle out spoiling the fun. Quote
Rad Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 WW1 wall at Little Si can be dry even when it's raining. Maybe prolonged soakings change the picture. Vantage often is only cloudy when the West slopes are getting wet. Quote
