philfort Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 There's been a huge thundercloud over the Cascades for the past half hour or so, with lightning bolts flashing through it every few seconds... nice view from downtown. Quote
Beck Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 Just stepped outside to check it out. That cloud is going off! It'd suck to be under that, it's sparkin! Quote
Billygoat Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 I was just climbing up here in the San Juans and from my vantage it is enormous. Biggest single cloud I have ever seen! Quote
philfort Posted June 18, 2004 Author Posted June 18, 2004 It keeps getting better and better... tried some pics, but I always miss the big ones. I think I'll have a few in a minute or two... Quote

slothrop Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 That first one's pretty sweet. Â Must be fun in the mountains right now... Quote

ken4ord Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 It was an awesome light show from my place. Kicked with a beer and herbal and just watched the show. Quote

jon Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 I seriously thought my house was going to blow up last night, that was the most insane lightening storm I've ever been in. It started raining like crazy too, didn't stop til about 2am. Quote
Dru Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 did you know if lightning strikes the internet while you are spraying you could be electrocuted! Quote
klenke Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 did you know if lightning strikes the internet while you are spraying you could be electrocuted! Â I had some good viewing from Queen Anne last night while watching Conan. I'd stick my head out the window periodically. The cloud seemed to be stationary over the range of mountains between Mt. Si and Mt. Index. It may have been slowly moving south or southwest. Â We may very well have a repeat performance tonight and this weekend. Conditions are still primed for it...which is partially why I changed my plans to merely day-climb tomorrow. Â Nice pictures, guys. Ah, the power of digital cameras with video capabilities! Quote
JoshK Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 The Christian Right will soon issue a press release saying it was god's own thunder directed at capitol hill to strike down the homosexuals. Quote
Dru Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 holy shit there is a t-storm striking abbotsford right now  it's hailing and the lightning bolts are zapping everywhere  maybe not a great time to be on summit of baker or shuksan cause it looks worse over there!  supposed to do this tomorrow too.... finish those alpine routes early. jon Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 So Dru, when you see the flash and you count how long is it until you hear the thunder, are you dividing by two or multiplying by two up there? Quote
Ratboy Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 So Dru, when you see the flash and you count how long is it until you hear the thunder, are you dividing by two or multiplying by two up there? Â You have to deivide by 2.2 liters/gallon and .6$Canadian/$US. Or is that for gas? Might as well be in rods per bushel. Quote
JoshK Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 I know a couple of folks that were up in terror basin last night. I really want them to come back and tell me if they got absolutely dumped on. I am 99% sure none of them brought anything more than a sleeping bag. Quote
cracked Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 You have to deivide by 2.2 liters/gallon Try again, Sparky! Quote
