The_North_Face Posted May 3, 2002 Posted May 3, 2002 Travel to Pakistan's Karakoram Mountains during Jimmy Chin's slide show "Karakoram Dreaming." The show will focus on a recent expedition to climb the unclimbed south face of K7 with Conrad Anker and Brady Robinson. Their route would involve over 8000 vertical feet of climbing. The epic climb remains unfinished as the team was stormed off after 16 days on the route. Jimmy will talk about the climb, but also provide insight into the travel, culture and people of this rugged and remote region of the planet. The K7 Expedition was Jimmy's third trip to Pakistan in as many years. He is a freelance photographer and climber/skier for the North Face. He has been climbing for 10 years and skiing for 18 years. His work and play take him to the far reaches of the planet where he tests North Face gear. Jimmy bases out of Jackson Hole, Wyoming when he is not traveling or living out of the back of his truck. Date: Thursday, May 9th Time: 7pm Cost: Free!!! We will be serving some snacks and drinks. Hope to see you there! Quote

Figger_Eight Posted May 3, 2002 Posted May 3, 2002 Don't forget to wear your battery powered jacket, and I hear there's free valet parking if you pull up in your North Face Edition Avalanche. Quote
Figger_Eight Posted May 3, 2002 Posted May 3, 2002 quote: Was that in bad taste?Yeah...but pretty funny. If you're talking about Hood, I was there the night before and decided it would be dumb to climb...hindsight's always 20/20 though. BTW - my girlfriend just told me TNF has Alex Lowe's picture plastered all over the walls at Nordstrom's above their urban outerwear. One of the salespeople saw her looking at it, approached her and said, "Yeah...isn't that sooo cool?" Right...pretty cool. What a great memorial... Quote
Dave_Schuldt Posted May 4, 2002 Posted May 4, 2002 Come on guy you can slam The North Farce better than that. Poor Alex, what a dishonor. [ 05-03-2002, 05:04 PM: Message edited by: Dave Schuldt ] Quote
Lambone Posted May 4, 2002 Posted May 4, 2002 The coolest thing about Alex is that he wouldn't mind abit...whatever got people fired up about climbing was all good in his eyes. Quote
slothrop Posted May 4, 2002 Posted May 4, 2002 Wasn't the last slide show at TNF called Denali Dreaming or something? Couldn't someone come up with a more original fucking title? Karakoram Dreaming makes me think of the Mamas and the Papas and that horrible nightmare of a song. Quote
Dru Posted May 4, 2002 Posted May 4, 2002 Do you have to wear an Avalung to drive an Avalanche? Quote

iain Posted May 4, 2002 Posted May 4, 2002 The funny thing to see would be an Avalanche with a Mazamas club sticker on the back window. Was that in bad taste? Quote
