jja Posted January 30, 2004 Posted January 30, 2004 aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! does anyone know if there is anything in and worth doing on saturday that is south of the closings? whistler or pemberton on the 99 side, or hope or yale on the 1 side? I'm assuming that with good weather forecast for saturday, sunday and monday, that the roads ought to open up by saturday afternoon .. sound reasonable? Quote
ken4ord Posted January 30, 2004 Posted January 30, 2004 WTF!!!!!! I agree jja aaarrrrrgggghhhhh faq faq faq!!!!! Quote
slothrop Posted January 30, 2004 Posted January 30, 2004 Yeah, I was gonna go samples the pleasures of Lillooet for the first time this weekend, but between work and now this, I am just getting I hope Fromage and Gary_Yngve find something to do... they headed up at 6 this morning. Quote
mr.radon Posted January 30, 2004 Posted January 30, 2004 AAAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHH.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Shizzle. Quote
glassgowkiss Posted January 30, 2004 Posted January 30, 2004 (edited) whistler had 45 cm of snow last night. think this- if the avi danger is so high they are closing the road you would not want to be in most of the places anyway. even rambles can most likely cause slides in these conditions (there are no trees for a reason). the farm in whistler is in. i don't know how highway 1 is for driving right now, since they had all this freezing rain. last tue we saw several semis in the ditch. a lot of car wrecks too. road from hope to the border was a sheet of ice. it too us over 2.5 hours to drive from hope to bellingham. jja Posted January 31, 2004 Posted January 31, 2004 Was planning a 3 day ... oh well, Lillooet will have perfect weather to climb and nobody there Saturday .. A mix of sun and cloud. Morning fog patches. High minus 3. Sunday .. Sunny. Low minus 11. High minus 1. Monday .. Sunny. Low minus 8. High minus 3. we're going to see what everything looks like tomorrow, and maybe go up for sunday, monday. Quote
LYleK Posted January 31, 2004 Posted January 31, 2004 Hmm, looks like us interior climbers have got Lillooet to ourselves this weekend... Just read in the Lillooet News that the icefest is cancelled. Reasons given were lack of time. He's invited you all to his house for dinner though. Quote: "Schulmann said climbers who do show up on the Feb. 7 - 8 weekend will be invited to dinner at his home to "talk about ice climbing stuff." Quote
mattp Posted January 31, 2004 Posted January 31, 2004 Pure speculation on my part, but it looks to me as if the roads will likely reopen by tomorrow morning. Meanwhile, what do you suppose the wave of warm wet weather that caused this avalanche cycle did to the ice climbs? Quote
Stemalot Posted January 31, 2004 Posted January 31, 2004 well...can't fight mother nature...if there is that much snow...then go skiing. be a downhill skiing yuppy for a weekend doesn't sound so bad... Quote
