Dru Posted December 20, 2003 Posted December 20, 2003 Partners who bail at the last minute cause they charleyhorsed themselves playing shinny are so suck. Discuss. Quote
catbirdseat Posted December 20, 2003 Posted December 20, 2003 Talk about it. My partner dislocated his finger helping a friend put up a basketball hoop. So now my super secret project will have to wait. Quote
Dru Posted December 20, 2003 Author Posted December 20, 2003 I might even get my Xmas shopping done before Xmas at this rate!!! Quote
Rick_Sharpless Posted December 20, 2003 Posted December 20, 2003 Partners who all go Xmas shopping, travel, are unable to get passes, etc. on weekend day with ice nearby suck. Â Today I shall run domestic errands instead of swinging picks. Quote
EWolfe Posted December 20, 2003 Posted December 20, 2003 Partners who aren't forgiving when you get hurt aren't that great either. Quote
Harry_Pi Posted December 20, 2003 Posted December 20, 2003 Hello capitalist! My favorite psychiatrist finally give me day pass, let's climb. Thank you for allow oriental to post. Quote
jj221 Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 What if your partner bails so that they can come post on cc.com? Quote
klenke Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 Â Once, when I was a Mutantneer in 2000, I was slated to go to Mt. Jefferson. Well, the leader called me to say the trip was off. Why was it off? Seems he dropped a can of Campbell's soup on his foot when he was reaching for it in an upper cupboard. Now what kind of lame excuse is that? I've never dropped any cans on my foot in the kitchen. A toenail came off today but I may still go out tomorrow (if Catbird doesn't bail on me). Quote
catbirdseat Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 Klenke, you remind me about a guy who told me he strained his back leaning over a counter. How lame is that? Quote
klenke Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 Yeah, but the difference between me and other people who shall remain nameless is that I never fully commited (said yes) to your climb. I told you up front that I had tweaked my back and may not want to go. So there! Quote
catbirdseat Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 You were nameless until you named yourself. No you did not commit. I was just having a little fun at your expense. Sorry dude. Quote
klenke Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 Note tongue in cheek icon ( ) in my last post. Quote
Dru Posted December 21, 2003 Author Posted December 21, 2003 "fuck dude I'm not gonna go climbing with you tomorrow cause I tore ligaments in my thumb while scrolling my mouse reading cc.com last night" Quote
cluck Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 Was told about someone doing a "club" climb on Kautz route on Rainier that was cancelled at the trailhead because the leader had blown out a load-lifter strap on his pack and wouldn't commit to the climb with his broken pack. Now that is lame. Reason #599 why climbing with .... insert your mountaineering club name here.... is so suck Quote
jordop Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 Far, far worse are partners who do not even call when you are supposed to leave tomorrow on a three day ski trip that has been planned for a month Hello? Do you exist Quote

Now that is lame. Reason #599 why climbing with .... insert your mountaineering club name here.... is so suck That's totally lame when you don't even need the damn straps in the first place. A couple of tucks with a needle and thread and it would have been fine. Could have scrounged that off of some campers or the ranger somewhere. Don't go painting everybody with the same brush, just because one guy lacked resourcefulness. Quote

leejams Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 How about driving up to exit 38 to meet a partner who never shows up, and will not answer my reply's. So I got to watch other's climb and then drive back home steamed. What a twit. Quote

scot'teryx Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 supposed to pick up partner on saturday morning at 630am. Stayed up all night w/baby, and then about to leave and he called and said he had the flu. So i slept in a little more and then went with a friend up ol pilchuck and had the worst ski descent ever. I should know better Quote
Hiromi Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 I had a partner bail on a weekend climb because she had too much canning to do. Canning! Pears and apples. To add insult to injury - she didn't even give me a jar! Where are peoples' priorities?! Quote
Bronco Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 Why cant these candy asses just buck up and maintain their commitments? I really get pissed when I'm on a climb and someone gets hurt just short of the summit and pusses out. "Put a tourniquet on it you baby!" Â Seriously, you guys who's lives revolve around climbing and stuff need to get some perspective. Some people have family's, jobs and sometimes, out of the blue, shit happens. Sounds like a control freak group session in here. Â Not calling to cancel however, is grounds for a minimum of 10' of penalty slack, DOAE, (depending on actual excuse). I hate that Quote
catbirdseat Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 If the tourniquet stops the bleeding, I don't see any reason not to top out. Quote
