Alpinfox Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 "So I figure this camalot hanging from my nuts will make a great anchor if I get out of control on these rollerblades..." "Yeah? If I get out of control, I'm just gonna put this jiffy pop under my ass and slide on it. Then I'll have popcorn!" Quote
Gripped Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 I'm shocked to see only one set of gaiters in the whole group... OMFG. He's actually wearing gaitors. I didn't catch that. I didn't even think those were *really* mountaineers. Quote
slothrop Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 Is this "adventure racing"? Dude on the left has a nice ghetto-style pant leg. Quote
Alpinfox Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 "Oh good, I see you all got the memo about the dress code..." Quote
Greg_W Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 <In the half-whisper of The Crocodile Hunter> "You can see that the mature Mountie male is ready for mating by the bright orange plummage displayed high above his grossly distended dorsal appendage." Quote
layton Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 oh god! this is the best thread ever. I can't believe how funny this shit is. Next time we gotta have a mounties section of the photo contest! I'm dying Quote
iain Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 Bob, asteroids may collide with earth and the sea may burn, but our packs will NEVER be lost. Tinkerbell ain't got nothing on our wand collection. Damn it's sunny out here. Quote
iain Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 Hmm, looks like we need to turn back, we're out of wands again. Quote
iain Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 "Visibility was rapidly deteriorating, and the wand committee was finding nothing but white ahead. Fortunately we were going fast and light by wearing mini gaiters." Quote
To_The_Top Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 "On Rappel! Mmmmkay?" Only thing missing is the duct tape name on the helmet. Gaitors? check Shorts over poly? check large group not doing anything? Quote
iain Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 Only thing missing? Well I don't see any intense spotting anywhere. In addition, the area is not festooned with topropes, though the picture may not be an accurate representation of the event. However, there is at least one rope installed as some kind of tripwire in the background, so perhaps this composition deserves more credit than my initial reaction. T-minus 10 seconds until blue-gaiters stumbles backwards on that thing. Quote

I'm glad to see the subject in the photo is enough of a rebel to let the gaitors slouch a bit...nice style. Quote

iain Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 that is perhaps the thickest prusik setup I've ever seen. This looks like a caving course Quote
archenemy Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 That is the Mounters class, not mounties Quote
EWolfe Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 Check out this attentive belayer: (note rope in water) Quote
