layton Posted December 9, 2003 Posted December 9, 2003 Here's a totally annoying trivial and boring thing to discuss. Yeah or nea and why? Quote
Lambone Posted December 9, 2003 Posted December 9, 2003 no, the get wrinkled and drive me crazy. if your boots fit right you won't get blisters. i used to wear them, but gave up on it... Quote
Figger_Eight Posted December 9, 2003 Posted December 9, 2003 Only if I'm wearing VBL's. Otherwise they're only useful for completing the shorts over polypro look. Quote
eternalX Posted December 9, 2003 Posted December 9, 2003 I always wear them for trips. Wool is too course and my feet are sensitive. Quote
Dru Posted December 9, 2003 Posted December 9, 2003 liners rock if you get the thick ones. skinny little polypro ones are last resort. Quote
highclimb Posted December 9, 2003 Posted December 9, 2003 i havent found a leather climbing boot that hasnt given me blisters. so i bought some liner socks....worked great....dont get blisters anymore..not even sore spots. my boots are my best friends now. i got some silk liners and rei...lightweight and warm....cause light is right my friends. my $.02 Aidan Quote
tshimko Posted December 9, 2003 Posted December 9, 2003 Think wool Specifically SmartWool slightly thicker liners sox in merino wool keep your feet comfortable, warm or cold, wet or dry, they don't compress down after a couple days use. AND they don't stink like synthetics. Somehow these sox can be worn for days of hard travel without smelling bad. I use a variety of thicknesses of Smartwool sox as the outer sox as well for all the same reasons. Synthetics will have to go a long way in advancing the technology to have me abandon SmartWool. gearup5000 Posted December 13, 2003 Posted December 13, 2003 Ultimax liner socks are great yes, they smell AWFUL at the end of the day, but that's cuz they soak up all your sweat. I figure it doubles the use of an outer "smartwool" type hiking sock Just put the dirty socks in a zip lock - should be OK. But with running shoes etc., they are great, they don't move and don't slip Quote
knuckle_salad Posted December 16, 2003 Posted December 16, 2003 I stopped wearing them soon as I got tired of getting them mixed up with some bobo dress socks because I didn't pack the night before and fished around for socks in the dark to avoid waking my wife when I'd leave in the morning. That and I found boots that don't give me blisters. Quote
cj001f Posted December 16, 2003 Posted December 16, 2003 Nea. Smartwool or Patagucci wool poly blend socks are supercomfy - and I find the only time I get blisters is when my feet sweat. Quote
iain Posted December 16, 2003 Posted December 16, 2003 I have found shoes for less money than pradagonia socks at retail price Quote
cj001f Posted December 16, 2003 Posted December 16, 2003 I have found shoes for less money than pradagonia socks at retail price Only little people pay retail. Quote

IceIceBaby Posted December 16, 2003 Posted December 16, 2003 I like them and use them (liners) for me it got nothing to do with the makers all i am interested in is the fabric and the design I have found them for as cheap as $1.75 a pair Quote
