Moderator: A person, or small group of people, who manages a moderated mailing list or Usenet newsgroup. Moderators are responsible for determining which email submissions are passed on to the list or newsgroup.

 

Moderators came into being because of bbs and usenet postings. All moderated posts could not be seen until approved by the moderator. So, if they didn't approve of a posting, it didn't show up. This is censorship. You want total freedom of speech write your own newspaper or website.

 

This forum requires a different approach because the rule is spray first, ask questions later. Therefore to moderate these forums you must edit, move, or delete posts. A moderator may issue warnings (which they have) but the main task is assuring the postings meet the agreed upon or mandated content.
