I was there for a while after dallying about the Indian Ocean and hitting a few places in Sub-Saharan Africa. Righteous. My dad was there 25 years ago, first as the Senior Resident Engineer with the US Army Corps of Engineers overseeing Perini International, the contractor that was dredging the lagoon and building the deep water port so the naval supply vessels wouldn't have to be off-loaded further out at sea. Then he retired from the Corps and was immediately hired out of retirement by the same Perini International to be their Project Manager for the same project. He said it was a pretty neat little place in the middle of nowhere, with not much else to do but work. I've seen his pics of the place, but never been there meseff.
