ryland_moore
I'd make sure you know what type of woodpecker it is as there are a number of species up your way that are listed. Serious fines. If it were a blue jay or starling, I'd say blast the fucker!
allthumbs
True story here - A few years ago this bitch Crow built a nest in a tree next to my bedroom window. Every morning the goddamn baby birds would make a hell of a racket and wake me up. After a few days I went outside with my .12 gauge shotgun and blew the little fuckers all to hell. I slept good after that.

allthumbs
I kill EVERY starling I can. And I shoot cats that sneak into the yard to kill birds before I can kill them. And I nail snakes to telephone poles by their tails and stuff firecrackers in their mouths.
ryland_moore
Starling's are an invasive and should be dealt with as such....
sexual_chocolate
Hey, it wasn't the goddamn starling's fault it was introduced, ok? Â At least if you're gonna kill kill kill, I think you should at least eat eat eat, foo'.

Na, Starlings are like crows, trash birds that taste like shit. Give me a nice morning dove. It takes a bunch to make a meal, but when your limit in the SOuth is 10 a day, it adds up. Don't know if too much dove hunting goes on out here in PNW?
allthumbs
yeah, we shoot up the doves down in Prosser. clean up a mess of 100 or so at the river (breasts only) and chow. good shit.
lummox
vegetablebelay said: I have been getting a visit from a woodpecker every morning around 6:30 or 7:00. He sits up on top of my metal chimney and hammers away at the top of the chimney. The resonating chimney and fireplace roars through my house. He is quite wiley and takes off whenever I open the door to get a shot at him with the bb gun. He also takes off if I light a piece of newspaper and smoke him out but I don't want to get up in the morning to make a fire anymore. Suggestions? wd-40 over the place where the peker pecks
vegetablebelay
I just got done applying my rat poison slurry up there - what's wd40 gonna do besides add a flammable element to the top of my chimney?
Dru
its not like it actually tastes the chimney, it just bongs it with its beak closed... i dont think poisons gonna work

AlpineK
I'm not sure what the problem is. A hard working guy should be up by 6:30. Maybe you're a lazy welfair loafer....
snoboy
I'm betting it's a flicker. They love to drum on stuff. We used to have one at our chimney cap too. He also like the transformers on the power poles.
